A must try in Aalborg: Ice cream shop ready with Tortoise, Bueno, lemon cake, and Bounty

by Emil Kjær Jørgensen

On April 4 this year, Guf & Kugler opened the doors to their new home on Bispensgade in the heart of Aalborg.

If you’ve walked past the shop, you’ve probably noticed two things:

There is always – dangerously tempting – a scent of vanilla from the baking of the homemade waffle cones.

There is almost always a line in front of the shop.

“We’ve simply been incredibly busy in the new location, and the reception has been beyond all expectations. We couldn’t ask for more,” says owner Jeppe Korsholm Mikkelsen to MigogAalborg.

Now summer is slowly coming to an end – but Guf & Kugler has by no means lost either momentum or the desire to be innovative.

That’s why they are now ready with no less than four new additions to the ice cream counter.

And there really is something for everyone.

“All four ice creams are inspired by my childhood. We’ve really turned up the coziness and nostalgia in the new varieties, which are on the heavier end of the scale,” Jeppe explains as he presents the novelties to MigogAalborg.

4 indulgent novelties ready in the display

May we present:

Tortoise, naturally inspired by the legendary Toms Skildpadde with plenty of rum essence, Callebaut caramel chocolate and lots of love.

Bounty, inspired by the well-known chocolate bar that Jeppe himself enjoyed countless times on the E45 when the family went on trips. The ice cream has been given a little twist with added chocolate/coconut cake. “When has anything not been made better by adding cake?” Jeppe adds.

Lemon, made on a base of coconut ice cream and topped with plenty of lemon cake.

Bueno with hazelnut, white chocolate cream, nut brittle and dark Callebaut chocolate, inspired by the iconic Kinder Bueno.

More news to come

We probably don’t need to reveal that the new varieties taste absolutely amazing – there’s a reason the ice cream shop was named Denmark’s best ice cream shop in 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024 … and again in 2025.

You can clearly taste that a lot of love has gone into creating these sinful (and indulgent) new flavors.

Now, like many other Danes, we at the editorial office are wildly fond of the iconic Tortoise chocolate, and if we had to pick a winner among the four new varieties, it would probably be Guf & Kugler’s interpretation of the classic candy that takes the crown.

The combination of rum, crunchy chocolate, delicious caramel, and irresistible cream ice cream – it tastes like a reunion!

The new ice cream varieties are so-called Limited Edition, so you never know when they might suddenly disappear from the display.

You can find Guf & Kugler on the corner of Bispensgade and Gravensgade – otherwise, just follow the scent.
