What’s on in May: Aalborg packed with events

Spring has truly arrived in Aalborg and you can feel it all across the city.

People are heading outdoors, as streets and parks fill with a sense of community and springtime energy.

The month offers no less than seven flea and art markets, four festivals, classic car meet-ups, summer parties, carnival, and a whole range of other events that showcase Aalborg at its very best.

In fact, there’s so much happening that choosing what to attend might be the hardest part. The only solution is to hop on your bike and move from one great event to the next.

Read on to find out what you should mark in your calendar this May:

Classic Car Meet in Vejgaard

A wave of nostalgia is on the way as Vejgaard transforms into a true haven for motor enthusiasts.

The streets around Hadsundvej, Vejgaard Torv, and Vejgaard Bymidte will be filled with beautifully restored classic cars, mopeds, and motorcycles—each with its own story from a bygone era.

Visitors can get up close to the vintage vehicles, admire the details, and chat with the passionate owners behind them. They are more than happy to share both stories and their love for these timeless machines.

It’s an ideal outing for the whole family—whether you’re a dedicated car enthusiast or simply curious about vehicles from the past.

Flea Market at the Harbour

Lopper på Havnen—Aalborg’s largest flea market in the city centre—returns for the 13th year in a row, once again bringing plenty of life and great atmosphere to the waterfront.

Visitors can explore up to 120 stalls filled with everything from clothing and second-hand treasures to quirky finds from attics and wardrobes.

The market is centrally located along the harbour, close to Jomfru Ane Parken, making it easy to combine bargain hunting with a relaxing stroll by the water in the spring sunshine.

There is, however, one important change this year. For the first time, the market will be held on a Saturday instead of the usual Sunday—so make sure to mark it clearly in your calendar to avoid showing up to an empty waterfront.

If you’d like to sell your own items, you can book a stall in advance. Prices range from DKK 200–300 depending on the space, and table rental costs DKK 50.
