In 2026, the city secures an impressive third place in studentum.dk’s annual “Student City of the Year” ranking, once again confirming its position as one of the country’s most attractive places to study.

Students continue to prioritise academics
Academic quality once again ranks as the most important factor for prospective students when choosing a study city. This is shown in responses from 962 participants in studentum.dk’s latest education survey.
In addition, social life, transport options, and access to affordable housing are key factors influencing where young people choose to study.
Denmark’s 10 best student cities in 2026
Ahead of the ranking, studentum.dk surveyed young people across the country regarding their choice of study city. This resulted in ten parameters used to evaluate each city.
This year’s criteria include: academic quality, social environment, transport options, affordable housing, student jobs, career opportunities, cultural, sports and leisure activities, educational opportunities, city life, and a sense of safety.
