Views, DJs and tastings: Aalborg Tower hosts open house
Ever since Restaurant Podium’s owner at Aalborg Congress & Culture Center (AKKC), Michel Lycoops, also took over the operations of Skydepavillonen and Aalborg Tower, things have been moving fast — very fast.
Now, the team is finally ready to open the doors to newly renovated facilities surrounding both Skydepavillonen and Aalborg’s iconic landmark, Aalborg Tower (in Danish Aalborgtårnet).
From the very beginning, Michel Lycoops had ambitious plans and plenty of ideas for the future of the area around Skydepavillonen and Aalborg Tower.
Now, he and the Podium team are ready to officially unveil the transformation.
And since Aalborg Tower is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, the occasion will be celebrated with a festive open house event where everyone is invited on Wednesday, May 13 from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Open House for Everyone
Aalborg’s mayor, Lasse Frimand Jensen, will officially cut the ribbon together with Michel Lycoops at 3:15 PM, marking the opening of the “new” Aalborg Tower.
Afterwards, guests can enjoy a variety of experiences throughout the afternoon.
In addition to exploring Skydepavillonen’s updated facilities, Podium will offer tastings of Kastberg ice cream from the newly designed ice cream shop next to Aalborg Tower.
Visitors can also sample cocktails and mocktails along with light snacks — and, of course, everyone will have free access to Aalborg Tower itself, where DJ Tom Needlesplit will provide atmospheric music while guests enjoy one of Aalborg’s most stunning panoramic views from the top.
“We’re incredibly excited to officially open both Skydepavillonen and Aalborg Tower. We hope many people will stop by, and throughout the three-hour reception we’ll make sure that as many guests as possible get the opportunity to visit the tower while also enjoying the cozy atmosphere below,” says Michel Lycoops.
The tower can accommodate 60 visitors at a time, and throughout the afternoon the elevator will continuously travel up and down to give as many guests as possible the chance to experience the spectacular views and live music from the top of Aalborg.
Meanwhile, Podium will serve plenty of samples and create a festive atmosphere in the newly designed garden area beneath the tower as well as inside Skydepavillonen.
Following the official opening on Wednesday, May 13, Aalborg Tower will afterwards be open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Admission will cost DKK 60 for adults and DKK 40 for children.
Michel Lycoops has also already planned several evening events at Aalborg’s famous landmark — and he has already teased some of the upcoming ideas in an interview with MigogAalborg.
