A spectacular sight: Aalborgtårnet will soon be green for a whole week

Aalborgtårnet is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, and since 1933, the 55-meter-high tower has stood tall here in the “Paris of the North.”
The tower has, on several occasions, been illuminated in various colors – including orange and blue.
But now, the tower will soon be bathed in an entirely new color.
Throughout week 17 – that is, next week – Aalborgtårnet will be lit up in green light.
And why is that?
It will be illuminated in green to mark Global Goals Week in Aalborg.
And it’s not just the green light you can look forward to next week.
The week is packed with exciting events taking place all around Aalborg Municipality.
A selection of events

You’re invited on a group hike in Lille Vildmose, “Birds and Fellowship Walk.” The idea for the hike originated with a private citizen from Hals, and it is held in collaboration with the Danish Ornithological Society, the Fodslaw Hiking Association, and literature mediators from Aalborg Libraries, who will share a good story along the way.

As part of “Denmark Eats Together,” you can join a cozy communal dinner in the old Town Hall of Nørresundby hosted by Ældresagen Aalborg.
Bat Tour at Almen Kirkegård – April 25, 8:30 PM–9:30 PM
As part of the City Nature Challenge 2025 in Aalborg, you’re invited to an exciting twilight tour to see if we can spot some of the bats that live in the heart of the city and use the cemetery to forage and breed.

What is Citizens’ Global Goals Week?
The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been in place since 2016.
Each year during Week 17, libraries across Denmark bring the goals to life through lectures, birdwatching tours, children’s theater, community dinners, and much more.
This includes North Jutland, where six libraries – including Aalborg Libraries – are hosting exciting events from south to north.
This is the third year in a row that libraries are marking Citizens’ Global Goals Week in Week 17, and more and more inspiring events are being added each year.
Week 17 wasn’t chosen at random – it’s a symbolic reference to the 17 SDGs, aiming to highlight as many as possible, from Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) to Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
