Aalborg’s new coffee bar: A cup of coffee costs 25 DKK in all varieties

The date has a very special meaning. In many ways.
This Wednesday, October 1, it will be exactly three years since Henrik Bruse let go of Surdejsbageren, which he built from the ground up.
A popular business that today has three locations in Aalborg.
This Wednesday is also International Coffee Day.
So, of course, it is precisely this Wednesday, on this date, that Henrik Bruse and Majken Green will open their new coffee bar, The Daily Brew, located adjacent to Aalborg Libraries with an entrance from Nørregade.
To celebrate the opening day, the first 100 visitors will receive a free coffee of their choice (excluding iced coffee).

A special partnership
Returning from his previous Surdejsbager adventure, Henrik brings new energy in partnership with Majken, who runs the specialty store Majkens Hylde just a few meters away.
“We’ve both long wanted to do something together, and when the library’s café space became available, the timing was perfect,” they explain.
Several have tried their luck in the café space before, but few have the experience and network that Henrik and Majken bring.
At The Daily Brew, Aalborg residents can look forward to a selection of coffee, sourdough pastries, and croissant-based treats.
Henrik, a big superhero enthusiast, has also woven his passion into the concept.
The name itself is inspired by the fictional newspapers The Daily Planet and The Daily Bugle.
“We want to create a coffee bar with personality, where superheroes are a fun and recurring detail,” says Henrik, who has even bought superhero magnets that each morning show how many free cups of coffee remain for the first ten guests.
Coffee for 25 kroner
A key goal for the duo is to offer quality at a price everyone can afford.
A cup of coffee costs 25 DKK — whether made with whole milk, oat milk, as a cappuccino, or a latte — and a whole pot is available for 50 DKK, which can be taken into the library for a study group, for example.
“We think it’s important that a trip to a coffee bar shouldn’t cost the same as a restaurant visit,” explains Henrik.
The location in the main library is intentional.
The two hope to become a natural extension of the space — a meeting place for students, mothers’ groups, knitting clubs, and passersby.
For children, there will be snack vegetables and simple solutions so that a coffee break can easily be combined with a visit to the children’s section.
At the same time, Henrik and Majken have big plans to use the café for various events — from wine tastings and sourdough courses to cozy pancake days.
“We’ll take it step by step, but we want to create a place where there’s always something happening and where people want to come back,” says Majken.
Their collaboration started small, with Henrik delivering homemade rolls to Majken’s store.
Demand grew so large that he had to borrow a friend’s bakery and bake several hundred at a time.
This marked the beginning of a friendship and partnership, now culminating in the opening of The Daily Brew.
“We’re so excited to open the doors,” they say.
The Daily Brew opens Wednesday, October 1, at 9:00 AM with 100 free cups of coffee.
