Awesome concerts and fireworks: Join the mini-festival in Karolinelund this Friday

This week marks a significant time for many, as students either embark on a new chapter or return from a long summer break with the start of the academic year at Aalborg University.

To kick off the first week in style, a massive party is planned for Friday, September 6th, with a back-to-school festival in Karolinelund.

Whether you’re a new or returning student at Aalborg University, grab your study buddies and head out for an incredible time with top musical acts like Suspekt, Tessa, and Saint Clara.

As is tradition, the Student Society is hosting a back-to-school party for AAU students on the first Friday of September. The festivities begin at 2:00 PM and will continue until 10:30 PM.

“Last year, we had about 4,500 attendees, including students and the 350 volunteers who helped with ticket checking, working at the stalls, and more. This year, we’re expecting and hoping for around 5,000 to 5,500 participants,” Hans Toft Rasmussen, the event’s main organizer, says.

The venue can accommodate up to 6,000 people, and a specific number of tickets have been reserved for new students.

“Just a few hours after tickets for new students went on sale, almost half of them were already gone,” Hans Toft Rasmussen told MyAalborg.

Big garden party with food stalls and bars

It might be autumn according to the calendar, but at the back-to-school party, you can still catch that last bit of summer festival vibe as Karolinelund will be filled with bars and food stalls.

“It’s a bit like a big garden party to celebrate the new students. It builds on the Friday parties we’ve had in Karolinelund over the summer, where there will be cool concerts, food stalls, and bars,” Hans Toft Rasmussen says.

So, you don’t need to worry about going hungry or thirsty, as the food stalls at the event will offer a variety of delicacies—from juicy burgers to gourmet meals.

The university’s many Friday bars will also be spread around Karolinelund, offering a wide range of drinks.

The floor will be buzzing when both major and emerging artists take the stage at the back-to-school party.

“This is something entirely new we’re trying out. Not just for the back-to-school party, but it’s generally something that hasn’t really been done in Karolinelund before,” Hans Toft Rasmussen points out to MyAalborg.

“It’s the perfect way to mark the arrival of new students,” Hans Toft Rasmussen concludes regarding the introduction of the fireworks show.
