Be aware: Large cycling race closes off areas in Aalborg
Aalborg is soon to host the cycling race, PostNord Denmark Tour, which starts on August 15, 2023.
Here, the audience – with Aalborg as a magnificent backdrop – can experience some of the world’s best cyclists.
However, due to the event, there are traffic challenges that will affect the city’s roads.
Here are the road closures
On August 15, from 06.00 in the morning to 22.00, the following roads will be completely closed:
- Annebergvej from Skydebanevej to Vestre Fjordvej
- Vestre Fjordvej from Annebergvej to Poul Buås Vej
Additionally, on the same day, from 15.30 to 18.30, the following roads will be completely closed:
- All roads on the circuit in Vestbyen, Mølholm, and Hasseris
Circuit closed for all traffic
The race is a road race that primarily takes place on a longer route around Himmerland.
It starts in Aalborg’s Vestby and concludes with three laps on the circuit in Vestbyen, Mølholm, and Hasseris.
The circuit will be closed for all traffic.
For the roads outside the fully closed circuit, there will be periodic closures lasting from 5 to 15 minutes before the cyclists pass, and the road will be reopened immediately after the last cyclists have passed.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, police and traffic officials will be present to direct traffic on the day.
It’s important to be aware that the exact times for the brief and periodic closures cannot be communicated in advance, as they depend on the cyclists’ speed.
Unfortunately, Aalborg Municipality will not be able to provide precise timings for these closures.
