Last week we revealed that musicians from North Jutland will play a major role at The Tall Ships Races from 30 July to 2 August.

In fact, just over half of the event’s 41 concerts will be performed by artists with roots in North Jutland.

Now there is even more good news.

The Tall Ships Races has now unveiled the headline acts for the event’s opening day and pre-event celebrations.

And things are certainly not going to be quiet.

In keeping with the spirit of the event, the artists are names that appeal to a broad audience and have found a special place in the hearts of Danes.

“We are now ready to announce the bigger names that will perform at The Tall Ships Races 2026 in Aalborg,” says Keld Rud Nielsen, Head of Music and Entertainment, and continues:

“We are getting things started early on Wednesday, 29 July, when the Funen-based band Patina will get everything buzzing as they take to the Port of Aalborg Stage at Slotspladsen. That should be the perfect way to kick off the festivities.”

Patina is one of Denmark’s most energetic live bands. Most recently, they enjoyed major success with the song Genstart (“Restart”), which lived up to its title three years after its release when it was featured in the reality series Hotel Romantik.

“On Thursday, we can present a bouquet of popular Danish artists. Blæst will close the Port of Aalborg Stage. They will arrive well warmed up after festival performances across the country ahead of their appearance at The Tall Ships Races.

There is a guarantee of great songs and major hits such as All In, Juice, and Elsker Dig Så Meget.

Opening for Blæst will be Mathias Ranch, who first gained attention through the programme Andreas Odbjergs Popmanifest. Finally, on the more rock-oriented side of the line-up, we have Dicte, who showed with her latest release, Let’s Escape, that there is still plenty of vitality and edge in her songwriting,” explains Keld Rud Nielsen.

Tue West and Sko/Torp Ready to Perform

Visitors heading to the stage in Nørresundby can enjoy performances by singer-songwriter Tue West and the popular duo Sko/Torp.

Both artists have previously performed at The Tall Ships Races in Aalborg to great enthusiasm from audiences.

“Finally, we have something of a coup. We have brought The Paul McKenna Band to Aalborg from Scotland. This year, the band celebrates its 20th anniversary.

They have previously performed at the Tønder Festival, and they play authentic Scottish folk music that has earned them a large following both in Scotland and in the many countries they have toured,” concludes Keld Rud Nielsen.

The headline acts for Friday and Saturday at The Tall Ships Races will be announced on 19 June and 11 July, respectively.
