Changes ahead for Aalborg’s StartUp scene: StartUp café to relocate

After several years with activities spread across three addresses, Aalborg Municipality’s business department, BusinessAalborg, is now gathering all its employees and activities under one roof in the city center.

Going forward, Rantzausgade 6 will become the shared base for the municipality’s entire business service.

The move follows Citizen Service relocating to the western part of the city, freeing up space in the premises on Rantzausgade.

At the same time, the municipality expects clear advantages from bringing employees and functions together in one place.

“By gathering our business efforts at one address, we strengthen both internal collaboration and our service to the business community.

When we sit closer together, it becomes easier to create synergy and offer a more coherent business service,” says municipal director Tommy Christiansen.

For companies, entrepreneurs, international employees, and partners, the move means easier access to guidance, sparring, and networks—whether the need concerns start-up, growth, internationalization, investment promotion, or the green transition.

At Rantzausgade 6, Business & StartUp Service, International House North Denmark, Invest in Aalborg, and Green Hub Denmark will be brought together.

In total, 40 employees are moving into the new premises today.

Startup café moves along

The relocation also means that Startup Café Aalborg is moving from GrowAAL in the western part of the city to Rantzausgade 6.

The café’s offerings will continue unchanged and will still give entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals the opportunity to use the café as a workspace, participate in events, receive drop-in guidance, meet specialists, and get sparring from BusinessAalborg’s startup consultants.

“We meet entrepreneurs who need specific sparring. With one shared base, we can respond faster and provide more coherent guidance, because we are closer to colleagues with specific skills in areas such as digitalization, internationalization, financing, and the green transition,” says startup consultant Malene Gade.

Focus on the green transition

The Green Hub Denmark secretariat and Invest in Aalborg will also become part of the shared address.

And the vision is clear: BusinessAalborg is to be a driving force behind an international, technological, and sustainable business community that inspires pride.

“The green transition and business opportunities within areas such as CO₂ capture, development, and storage are playing an increasingly large role in our work.

International companies and investors show great interest in the competencies we have in Aalborg and North Jutland,” says Catharina Vinther Engqvist, team leader for Invest in Aalborg.

In February 2026, Martin Rune Hoxer will take up his position as the new Director of Business in Aalborg Municipality and head of BusinessAalborg. He will therefore also have his daily base at Rantzausgade 6.

The relocation is expected to be completed during January.
