Something speciel: Mortens Kro invites you to Christmas Eve with a luxurious Christmas dinner

Christmas Eve is for many a day filled with traditions and family coziness.
But more and more people wish to try something new when the calendar says December 24th.
Now you have the chance, as Mortens Kro invites you to Christmas dinner .
Leave pots and pans at home and look forward to Morten Nielsen and Karina Møller, the duo behind Mortens Kro, hosting this year’s Christmas Eve celebration.
“We see a growing demand for it, but I also believe it reflects that people’s habits and traditions are changing.
The new generations don’t cook as much themselves, so during the holidays they may feel a bit more challenged and seek alternatives,” says Morten Nielsen to MigogAalborg.
French dessert and dancing around the Christmas tree
Guests arrive for Christmas dinner between 5–6 PM, starting with three appetizers and a glass of champagne.
After that, you’ll enjoy a delicious three-course menu featuring everything from pan-fried turbot to roasted duck with stuffed apples.
The Christmas tree will be decorated by none other than Blomster Jonas, making it an attraction in itself, and – if you wish – there will of course also be dancing around the tree.
Then, the house pastry chef will present the French ‘Bouche Noel’ – a classic French Christmas roulade.
“We make sure to offer a complete package, where everything is homemade.
We dance around the tree, hand out the almond gift, and enjoy a drink or two after the meal before the evening ends around midnight,” explains Morten Nielsen.
If you’re attending alone, there’s also the option of joining a communal table, so you can sit with others if you’d like.
Christmas stay also available
For DKK 1,798 you’ll get a seat at the exclusive Christmas dinner at Mortens Kro. And if you’d like to upgrade the wine experience, it can be done for an additional DKK 398.
You can also choose a two-night stay in Mortens Kro’s luxury suite from December 23rd to 25th, starting from DKK 6,998.
“The fact that you can come here, have everything served, and enjoy yourself without spending time and energy in the kitchen is something truly special.
I think we’re also a bit of a first mover with this concept, and we’d like to help put Aalborg more on the map this way,” says Morten Nielsen.
Christmas menu at Mortens Kro:
3 appetizers served with
1 glass of Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage champagne
Starter: Pan-fried turbot fillet in a tartlet with Læsø langoustine and lobster sauce with tomato and cognac, winter vegetables, and winter truffle.
Main course: Classic Christmas roast duck served with stuffed apples, red cabbage, asparagus potatoes, caramelized potatoes, duck jus, and potato chips. (Main course is served twice)
Dessert: Valrhona Ivoire chocolate sphere filled with ris à la mande – served with warm cherry sauce.
Pastry Chef Fabien Chevreuil’s: Bouche Noel – classic French Christmas roulade
Free choice of coffee/tea
Mortens Kro has a goal of selling around 30–40 seats.
Normally, the restaurant can accommodate more guests, but they are naturally limited by the somewhat more challenging date in terms of staffing, as many employees understandably wish to have the day off.
“We’ll have to see whether our expectations match reality – and whether this is something people actually want to book. At least we expect there to be interest,” concludes Morten Nielsen.
