City guide: Where to shop in Aalborg
So you’re in the city and want to know where the best shopping spots in Aalborg are?
Don’t worry, we have you covered.
Aalborg offers a great mix of shopping possibilities from high street fashion shops to unique, local stores.
Here’s our shopping guide to Aalborg
In the center of Aalborg, you have two main shopping streets. Here you’ll find whatever you looking for.
Algade
This is one of the most famous streets in the history of Aalborg going back more than 1.000 years to when the Vikings lived in the city.
Today, it’s a pedestrian street with great coffee shops and high street fashion boutiques that offer fashion, jewelry, toys, and so much more.
In Algade, you will also find the main entrance for the big department store Salling, which is one of the biggest malls in the center of Aalborg. If you head up to their roof, you will be treated to a stunning view over Aalborg as well as food and drinks in their Rooftop Café & Bar.
Bispensgade
Following this pedestrian street will lead you from Nytorv, in the heart of Aalborg, to the dynamic Vesterbro where the street cuts off at the famous statue Cimbrertyren.
Here you will also find a lot of high street fashion shops such as H&M, Gina Tricot, and Humac, which can keep you occupied for hours on end.
If you turn left at the fountain next to Vesterå, you will reach Gravensgade – a street that features many local stores such as the recently opened men’s wear designer store DeKarl.
Friis Shoppingcenter & Magasin
At Gabels Torv, you’ll find two major shopping malls. One of them is Friis Shoppingcenter that has two levels of trendy shops and more than 400 parking spaces in their underground parking level.
Inside Friis Shoppingcenter, you can walk straight into Magasin, which is one of Denmark’s leading department stores. Magasin is also located in Copenhagen, Lyngby, Aarhus, and Odense.
Magasin carries Danish and international fashion and lifestyle brands and is a mecca for those who love shopping.
Aalborg Storcenter – City Syd
8 kilometers outside of the city center, you will find the area known as City Syd. Here’s everything you need whether you are looking for clothes, furniture, lifestyle design, or even groceries.
Bilka, IKEA, and Plantorama are just some of the shops to choose from – not to forget the mall Aalborg Storcenter, which is the heart of City Syd.
With more than 80 shops and thousands of free parking spots, the mall is the largest in Aalborg and a favored destination among locals when the weather is dreary.
Just next to Aalborg Storcenter is Shoppen; a smaller mall that offers food and cool brands.
Nørregade
Nørregade is connected to Alagde and famous for a number of local shops.
Take a stroll down the street and experience unique brands and a one of a kind atmosphere.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, try visiting La Donuteria; a recently opened donut shop that originates from Italy and makes their donuts fresh every day.
On Nørregade, you’ll also find the main library and entrances to Magasin and Lagkagehuset.
