Close to Aalborg: Denmark’s biggest waterpark is open

by Shellie Boudreau

We’re having glorious weather right now.

In addition to the local crops needing some drops of water, you might want to splash around in some too.

Only 30 minutes from Aalborg, you have the opportunity to jump into Denmark’s biggest waterpark at Fårup Sommerland.

The Aquapark offers many water rides and activities that remind you how fun it is to reconnect with childhood memories or make new ones by splashing around with family and friends.

Whether you are into high speed and excitement or leisure experiences in the water, there is something for everyone.

One of the wildest water slides in the Aquapark is the Cyclone (Vandcyklonen).

The Cyclone does exactly what the name implies and is one of the first outdoor waterslides that gives visitors a free fall experience.

If you are a daredevil – this is probably for you.

Rapid waterslides

If speed is your greed, then try Surf Hill. Here you will accelerate down a 120-metre slide and can compete with friends and other contestants by racing to the bottom first. There are three lanes.

What do you win? Bragging rights, of course!!

On the other hand, the “Cyclone” lets you be on the same “team” and share a bathing ring that takes you around in a huge funnel.

Then there is the Wild River ride. Named perfectly, this ride is a river-raging experience interconnected with leisure flow and bumps for added laughs.

Something from young families too

The water park is not only for the courageous but also for families with small children.

In a designated area for kids, there are plenty of fun activities for even the smallest fish in the family. Children can swim among friendly animals and mini water cannons in shallow water here.

There is also a small waterfall where the children can splash around. In the Rainforest, there are little barriers to climb and water slides that create the perfect setting for a family fun water fight.

27 degrees warm waves

The Aquapark has also considered those who love North Jutlands’ access to the North Sea’s big waves.

But instead of travelling out to sea, you can bring your gear to the Wave Pool and jump into waves of all sizes with the family. And the best thing is that there are no accidental saltwater splashes in the eyes.

The water in the Wave Pool is heated to a comfortable 27 degrees so that you can enjoy the waves without freezing.
