Collaboration with companies: The IHND helps internationals settle

by Catarina da Silva

The International House North Denmark’s (IHND) work is also directed at companies, including both startups and international businesses, that can receive assistance when recruiting internationally and also help their international employees settle in North Denmark.

There are several steps to go through for companies when hiring internationally, and for employees when moving to a new country for work.

This process starts already when a company is looking to recruit internationals, it continues when their employee arrives in Denmark, and concludes when they settle.

To ease this process, we have created several activities carefully crafted to facilitate a smooth start in North Denmark, our current main three initiatives for companies are related to: Attracting International Candidates, Partner Jobs & Networking, and International Talents.

Initiatives

Attracting international candidates

One of their initiatives focuses on recruiting internationals and attracting qualified candidates for your company.

The IHND provides “pre-arrival” meetings with your new employee where they can gain insights on the practicalities of moving to Denmark, a strategic partnership aimed at promoting companies’ job ads, and welcoming events for international employees.

The initiatives are designed to help companies retain their international talent, by providing assistance like guiding in terms of paperwork and building a local social and professional network.

Partner jobs & networking

Their second initiative, related to the Spouse Space program, is aimed at supporting internationals’ spouses and partners, so they can thrive in Denmark.

The IHND organises activities where they can learn how to navigate the Danish job market and find their way to employment, discover volunteering opportunities and the rich Danish association life, and build their own social network in the region.

Additionally, they have the Culture Companion program that matches a host with international newcomers for 6 months, so they can get a better start in North Denmark.

International Talents

North Denmark is gradually becoming an attractive destination for international talents, and at the IHND they work with highly educated international talents, who can be just the right employee for your company.

When collaborating with the IHND, companies gain facilitated access to international professionals and graduates, support to recruitment, assistance for internationals in settling in the region, and guidance in taking care of paperwork.
