Ballet is not just something you have to experience in fancy seats in Copenhagen.

Every summer since 2006, The Royal Theater (Det Kongelige Teater) extraordinary ballet dancers travel throughout Denmark to showcase their skills and enlighten those who gaze upon them.

As with previous years the show is free for those wishing to experience the ballet in the open air. The show is both for novice and avid audiences.

Heery! Heery! The Royal Theater has now revealed this year’s program.  And there is so much to get excited about.

Here in North Jutland we are fortunate that the ballet experience is a short 20 min drive from Aalborg.

The ballet event is at the magnificent venue on Rebild Bakker Friday, June 10, at 19:00.

So you can start to plan your picnic basket, invite friends, family or significant others and enjoy a moment of culture in the open air.

In connection with the ballet, you can order a delicious and prepared picnic basket through RebildHus or Rold StorKro. Read more about that offer here.

Spectacular classics

This year’s exhibition offers dance pieces from the coming ballet season program and works from their repertoire.

Amongst many others, you will be able to see some spectacular classics such as the ageless tale ”Swan Lake” as well as  ”Sylphide” and ”Giselle.”

From the stage, you will sense unrequited love and an escape from reality as you gaze upon pas de deux (a dance of two) from ”Don Quixote” and ”Jeweler.”

Something exceptional will be a sneak peek into Gregory Deans’s new choreographed Hollywood-inspired ballet ”Gotta Dance!.” The sneak peek will be about when two sailors meet Judy Garlands’ iconic voice and dance with a cheerful and energetic girl.

The Royal Theater travels throughout Denmark and visits 12 cities throughout June. Check out the program below.
