Confusion about wearing face masks in fitness centers: The Ministry of Culture provides answers

by Nathalia Hentze Nielsen

After last Friday’s press conference, we wrote that the guidelines for training in fitness centers included, among other things, that you should wear a face mask. Similar to the guidelines when visiting a restaurant.

But the confusion is full-blown.

As described in B.T., the Ministry of Culture now states that wearing a face mask between the entrance and changing room is sufficient.

“When you leave the changing room in your sports clothes, you do not need a facemask, nor do you need one when switching between equipment.

However, you should wear a facemask when you come into and exit the changing room when you leave the fitness center, or go to the lounge areas”, the Ministry writes in an email to B.T.

The following is a translation from The Ministry of Culture’s website:

CAN YOU WORK OUT IN A FITNESS CENTER?
Yes. For example, swimming pools and fitness centers can remain open for regular training for all age groups. Regular attendance and training in the fitness center is not counted as one event. There must be a maximum of 10 people in one place for an arrangement or activity such as team training.
