Cycle on the runway: Aalborg Airport invites you to a grand cycling race at night

by Nathalia Hentze Nielsen

First, Aalborg Airport and Aalborg Air Base invited for a nighttime run on the runway on Saturday, September 2nd.

Now they are also hosting a night cycling race, taking place the day before, on Saturday, September 1st, from 16.00 to 20.00.

It’s called Runway Night Ride, and it’s guaranteed to be just as special an experience as the Runway Night Run.

The proceeds from both events go to a good cause.

400 cyclists at night

There’s room for 400 participants in this unique cycling experience, which is rarely offered.

The participants will be divided into different groups to ensure a great experience for everyone.

The cycling race is a completely unique opportunity to be out on the domain of the airplanes, an area completely off-limits to ‘civilians’ on all the other 364 days of the year.

Tickets for the Runway Night Run sold out quickly when it was announced in May, so if you want to secure a spot for the cycling race, it’s time to buy your ticket now.

A good cause

By participating in RNR 2023, you’ll not only gain a unique experience.

Participation costs from 179 Danish kroner, and the proceeds go to a good cause.

It’s a ‘non-profit’ event organized by the companies responsible for the daily operation and management of air traffic at Aalborg Airport.

“The surplus from the race will be allocated to organizations/events that support and work with Danish war veterans in their efforts to resume/continue an active sports life despite their war injuries,” the organizer writes.
