In september: Danish air show welcomes iconic fighter jet to Aalborg
One of Denmark’s most iconic F-16 fighter jets will soon return to Aalborg.
When Danish Air Show takes over Aalborg Air Base on Sunday, September 13, visitors will have the chance to see a very special aircraft.
F-16 E-006, better known as “Dannebrog,” will be on display on the ground, giving visitors the opportunity to get up close to the distinctive red-and-white aircraft.
Over the years, the aircraft has earned a special place in the hearts of many Danes and has taken part in several memorable occasions.
Among other things, it escorted Denmark’s men’s national handball team through Danish airspace after winning the IHF World Championship in both 2019 and 2021.
Painted to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Dannebrog
Of course, E-006 has not always looked like this.
In 2019, the F-16 was painted in its distinctive red-and-white livery to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Dannebrog, Denmark’s national flag.
Since then, it has become one of the Royal Danish Air Force’s most recognizable aircraft.
At Danish Air Show, “Dannebrog” will be part of the event’s static display.
This means the aircraft will remain on the ground, allowing visitors to get a close-up look.
The full programme is just around the corner
“Dannebrog” is far from the only attraction to look forward to when Aalborg Air Base opens its gates.
Danish Air Show 2026 will feature flying displays by aircraft and helicopters from Denmark and abroad, while visitors on the ground will have the opportunity to explore military equipment and meet some of the people who work with it every day.
The full programme has not yet been announced, but it is expected very soon.
That means there are still more announcements to come ahead of September.
The event begins at 8:00 a.m., while the aerial displays will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Danish Air Show 2026 takes place on Sunday, September 13, at Aalborg Air Base.
And there is one more piece of good news: admission is free.
