Danish mini-Olympics: Denmark’s biggest sports festival now kicks off in Aalborg

DIF DM Week is officially underway as the first matches of the Danish Tennis Championships are served on the red clay at Aalborg Tennis Club Monday morning.
During DM Week, 35 different sports compete for the national championship gold.
The waterfront becomes Center Court, hosting a wide range of championships – and it’s all free to attend.
Tennis is just one of 35 different sports participating in DM Week in Aalborg from June 23–29, 2025.
This is the third time Aalborg hosts DM Week, which is a kind of mini-Olympics on Danish soil.
“DM Week is a perfect showcase for the many different sports, but also for Aalborg as a city. Once again, sport moves into the city, where both small and large sports disciplines are given new settings and more spotlight than usual.
We are incredibly excited to host a fantastic public celebration that honors athletes, community, volunteerism, and club life,” says Aalborg’s mayor, Lasse Frimand Jensen, who is pleased that sports are once again taking over the city’s public spaces to the delight of both athletes and spectators.
“Many sports become more accessible by moving into the city’s public spaces, where they can be seen and experienced by everyone. For example, it will be fun to experience the Danish Table Tennis Championships in Musikkens Hus or weightlifting right in the middle of Honnørkajen.
I hope that DM Week will be such a great source of inspiration that it also leads to new members joining our many sports clubs.”

The Entire Waterfront Buzzes with Sports
For the first time, “Center Court” will stretch 1.5 kilometers, turning the entire waterfront into a vibrant hub of sports. Center Court runs from the Limfjord Bridge, featuring the Danish Championships in High Diving, all the way to Østre Havn, where the Wakeboard Championships take place.
Many other venues will also be used – including pool in Salling and table tennis in both Musikkens Hus and Gigantium.
“This year again, we’ve aimed to think alternatively, creatively, and innovatively to bring more Danish Championships and sports disciplines out into the cityscape and present them in a way that makes spectators go ‘wow’ and gain a new and surprising sports experience alongside Denmark’s best athletes,” says Jakob Wärme Lykke, project manager for DIF DM Week.
During DM Week, spectators will be able to experience:
- Danish Championships in table tennis on stage in the Concert Hall at Musikkens Hus (with a grand entrance and prelude accompanied by a string quartet)
- High Diving Championships from the Limfjord Bridge
- Championships in artistic gymnastics, archery, padel, and beach volleyball directly on Aalborg’s waterfront with views over the fjord
- Powerlifting Championships to the sound of roaring live metal music from the band Danefae
- 9-ball pool billiards at Salling Department Store (check out a national championship while shopping!)
- Skeet shooting championships from Musikkens Plads over the Limfjord (using biodegradable clay pigeons)
- Rally sprint championships at Aalborg Air Base
- Road cycling championships finishing on the Limfjord Bridge
- Urban sports championships like break dance (breaking), 3×3 basketball, and wakeboarding on the waterfront (with live DJs and a cool street and harbor vibe)
- A giant try-it-yourself activity park for the whole family
