It will be Denmark’s largest: Here opens a HUGE climbing hall in Aalborg

Boulders will open its doors on October 30 to a climbing hall in Aalborg East, which will be Denmark’s largest.

The hall will feature plenty of modern climbing facilities, a fitness area, a children’s area, and a café.

On Thursday, October 30 at 12:00, Boulders opens the doors to a new climbing hall at Skjernvej 4A in Aalborg East, right by Langagervej and Humlebakken.

With 2,500 square meters, it will be Denmark’s largest and most versatile climbing hall for both beginners and experienced climbers.

The opening will be celebrated with a ceremony on October 30, where councilor Jan Nymark Thaysen will cut the ribbon, and there will be a series of opening offers.

Get an informal look inside

Two days earlier, Tuesday, October 28 from 17:00 to 20:00, the public can get an informal look inside the finished hall, meet the team, ask questions, and enjoy a cup of coffee.

“We are excited to open the doors to our new, large climbing universe.

We are happy to offer our dedicated climbers from Aalborg a climbing hall in their own city so they don’t have to travel to Aarhus, and we also hope to see many new faces.

The climbing hall offers space for community, movement, and mental exercise,” says Martin Petersen, director of Boulders.

Facilities for young and old

In Boulders’ new climbing hall, children and adults can try some of the newest climbing walls in the popular discipline of bouldering, where you climb low walls without ropes.

Visitors can also train in a large workout area, enjoy an organic beer, soda, or coffee in the café, work on their laptop at a desk with free wifi, or play with children in a large enclosed kids’ climbing area that has its own floor.

“You should feel comfortable, whether you come to train or just relax with a refreshment.

That’s why we have put just as much emphasis on the social spaces as on climbing,” says Martin Petersen, adding:

“We want to make climbing as accessible as possible, which requires flexible opening hours. On opening day, we open at 12:00, but the hall will be open every day from 10:00 to 22:00, so students, families, and full-time workers can all join.”

Construction with care

With the environment in mind, Boulders Aalborg has been built using bamboo walls, FSC-certified materials, and an organic café.

“Bouldering today typically takes place on low indoor climbing walls with mats as fall protection, but originally the sport was practiced on natural rocks and larger stone formations.

We have built the climbing hall with respect for the environment and the nature that has given us the opportunity to climb,” says Martin Petersen.

From Thursday, October 30 at 12:00, Boulders will offer free entry for all during the first four weeks after opening. During the first weeks, students, families, and locals will also get half-price entry. You can read more here.
