End of an era: Restaurant Vestre Baadelaug goes bankrupt
On March 21st last year, we reported that the legendary eatery, Restaurant Vestre Baadelaug, was up for sale.
But now it’s finally over.
Owner Nina Pichler announced so on Facebook.
She begins the post with “Denmark’s most decorated Beef Sandwich’ is no more.”
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for many wonderful years of coziness and good food.
We leave here with countless delightful memories, privileged over the success, activity, and the opportunities to do things exactly the way we wanted. For 20 years,” she continues.
Several interested buyers
According to Nina, the bankruptcy could have been avoided.
“Our departure could have also deservedly come with a tidy sum for retirement.
There have been interested buyers. Two just this year,” she writes.
She explains that the sailing club Vestre Baadelaug, which owns the building, needs to approve a new buyer.
However, they couldn’t reach an agreement, according to Nina.
“I shed a small tear today, but now it’s time to say goodbye.
I don’t want to completely dismantle my business. That’s why I’ve chosen bankruptcy,” she reveals.
“The decision was made while paying off suppliers and thus closing down as desired.”
