Ready for more: Fandanko owners opens pizzeria and coffee bar

You can start getting excited if Fandanko is your favorite food spot in Aalborg.
Last friday, the team behind the popular takeaway place launched two new ventures in the neighboring spaces.
From now on, you’ll be able to grab both pizza and coffee there.
The names of the new spots are “Fucking Pizza” and “Camp Kaffe”—so things are definitely heating up!
“There used to be a pizzeria in the Fucking Pizza space, and we decided to try creating our own,” explains Louise Bundgaard Bønsdorff from Fandanko, when MigogAalborg stopped by ahead of the official opening.

Detroit-style pizza with the wildest crust
At Gammel Gugvej 19, Fandanko has long offered everything from sandwiches to high-quality tapas—and now it’s time to expand with even more treats.
At Fucking Pizza in number 23A, the focus—unsurprisingly—is all about pizza.
But! This isn’t your average pizza.
Instead, people in Aalborg can look forward to authentic Detroit-style pizza, best known for its square shape and tall, airy crust baked to a crisp with plenty of caramelized cheese.
“We actually think there are already many great pizzerias in Aalborg, and we’re not looking to compete with them—that’s why we’re going all in on Detroit-style pizza, made in blue steel pans, just like they do in Detroit,” says Louise Bundgaard Bønsdorff.

When we stopped by the city’s newest pizzeria, we got to taste several of the pizzas – and the verdict is in: they were absolutely delicious!
It was a completely new experience for us with Detroit-style pizza, but the soft, focaccia-like crust, the generous toppings, and the rich cheese were a guaranteed hit.
What is Detroit-style pizza?
“This type of pizza originated in Detroit, USA in the 1940s – and today, it’s hugely popular all across the country.
Detroit-style pizza is easily recognized by its square shape and crispy, cheesy corner slices. This style challenges the traditional round pizza – in shape, thickness, and flavor.
The dough for Detroit-style pizza is wetter than regular pizza dough, and when given plenty of time to rise, it develops into a light, chewy, almost bubbly crust that both tastes delicious and has a great texture.
Detroit pizzas feature a tasty crust, and the cheese is spread all the way to the edges of the pizza pan. That way, the crust turns crispy – not just in the corners, but all the way around.”

You can choose from six different varieties and several exciting side orders and desserts.
We were particularly big fans of their “Chicken Teriyaki” pizza – but you’ll find your own new favorite on the menu.
Brand new coffee bar – in beautiful surroundings
at number 23B – right between Fandanko and Fucking Pizza – you can now grab a great cup of coffee at Camp Kaffe.
In the same brand-new setting as the pizzeria, you can buy everything from iced coffee to cappuccino, and indulge in sweet treats like croissants, apple cake, and the obligatory cheese bun (BMO).
With expert help from Kaffeselskabet, Camp Kaffe already offers their own coffee varieties – you can even buy a bag of espresso or regular coffee to take home.

Take it home or enjoy in new surroundings
The new concepts also benefit the employees of the takeout spots.
“Our staff gets the opportunity to rotate between all three locations if they want. So one day they might make coffee, the next day, it’s pizza. They think that’s a lot of fun,” says Louise Bundgaard Bønsdorff.
As for the names of the two new takeout spots, there’s no deeper meaning other than making them easily recognizable.
“The ‘Fucking Pizza’ name is inspired by a restaurant in Barcelona called ‘My Fucking Restaurant,’ and we really loved that. It’s also about creating a name that stands out from the crowd,” explains Louise Bundgaard Bønsdorff.

Fandanko has been at the same location since 2008, led by Carsten Damgaard Pedersen, with Louise Bundgaard Bønsdorff and Jørgen Erik Bundgaard Bønsdorff joining later.
Together, they have all worked hard to make the new spaces thrive. And they’re certainly doing it well.
In addition to the two new takeout spots, they’ve created a very cozy seating area, where customers can sit sheltered from the wind and weather or enjoy the upcoming summer sun outside.
Here, all customers at Fandanko, Fucking Pizza, and Camp Kaffe can enjoy their food and drinks if they simply can’t wait to savor the delicious offerings until they get home.

“We’re in a really great location here, as people like to pick up food on their way home – and we’ll soon be expanding with even more parking spaces.
Of course, we’ll probably need to teach the people of Aalborg that pizza can look and taste this way. But we hope they’ll welcome it with open arms,” concludes Louise Bundgaard Bønsdorff.
Both Fucking Pizza and Camp Kaffe will officially open on Friday, April 25, at 11 AM. At Fucking Pizza, they’ll be offering delicious samples if you drop by between 1 PM and 6 PM.
