We can’t help but look back and reflect on the past year.

Doing so is healthy and looking forward is also healthy (and fun).

So the editorial team here at MyAalborg thought to compile a list of fantastic events that are coming in 2023. Now you can start thinking about how you wish to fill your days this year.

When compiling the list we also considered if there were tickets left so you won’t be disappointed if you decide to go.

Aalborg’s biggest restaurant festival

Aalborg Eat Out has become quite a large event in Aalborg, hosted by our sister-site MigogAalborg in cooperation with a selection of the city’s best restaurants.

In October, we sent more than 8,000 happy guests out to eat at various restaurants. Now the event has returned and as always, we offer a special price.

Book your seating here.

When: Week 5 & 6, 2023

Aalborg Carnival

Denmark’s biggest street party is without a doubt Aalborg Carnival.

Around 100,000 people gather in the city’s streets, showcasing their costumes and festive spirit.

In 2023, the carnival will be held on Saturday, May 27th. Wondering what the theme is this year? Answer: Gold, Glitter and Recycling.

Brilliant idea! Let’s see what you put together.

Like all years, there will be smiles, laughter, friendship, and comradeship. We look forward to seeing who will be king or queen of the carnival in the new year.

When: Saturday, May 27th, 2023

Worlds’ wildest bridge builders

The World’s Wildest Bridge Builders is a new bridge-building competition celebrating Denmark as a bridge nation. One goal of the event is to reveal to young minds what you can do with vocational education.

Aalborg will host the competition for the first time.

On June 2nd, a steel, concrete, and wood bridge will be built on Obel’s canal in just seven hours by 30 apprentices, pupils, and students from North Jutland. Let us repeat that it is three bridges in seven hours.

Professional engineers, architects, and education consultants from Rambøll, COWI, Dissing+Weitling, 3F, and others will judge and choose the winning bridge.

When: June 2nd, 2023

Idrætsmødet (Sport Meeting) and DM-week

Denmark’s first Danish Championship week was held here in Aalborg in June this year. The meet was a giant success.

Over a few days, more than 200 Danish champions emerged victorious. Competitions were held at 24 different locations throughout the city.

But more than 50,000 spectators joined and filled Aalborg’s streets in connection with the DM week.

THE SPORTS MEETING is held again at the same time this year. You’ll be able to try the Bridge Jump and Zip-line by the Aalborg tower again this year.

When: Week 25, 2023

Nibe Festival

This year’s Nibe Festival will be longer and possibly surpass our expectations.

The festival is lifting heavy weights this year with several big names. One of which is Lukas Graham.

Other big names we know will be coming:

OneRepublic (June 30), Lukas Graham (June 28), The Minds Of 99 (June 29), Tobias Rahim (June 30), L.O.C. (June 28), Oh Land, Viper & PRISMA.

When: June 28th – July 1st, 2023

Skovrock

Skovrock (Forest Rock) in Skovdalen is among the most popular events during the year here in Aalborg.

The full program 2023 is out and there is a long list of big names.

DAD, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Rasmus Seebach, Jung, Drew Sycamore, Gill, Out of Control, Jonah Blacksmith, Rasmus Walter, Queen Machine, and Lars Lilholt Band.

No less than 20,000 bought tickets for Skovrock last summer.

So Skovrock raises the number to no less than 35,000 tickets this coming summer.

If you didn’t know, Skråen organizes Friday parties in Karolinelund. So we are looking forward to them this coming year as well.

When: Select dates in June, August, and September 2023

Regatta

Every four years, Aalborg hosts the Tall Ships Races. Since the Tall Ships were here last year, shouldn’t we do something else instead?

Yes, of course, and in the past years a big party is held on the harborfront around the same time.

So from August 23rd-27th, Aalborg Harbor will again prepare for a party known as Aalborg Regatta.

Aalborg Regatta is a maritime family event. There will be musical entertainment, many water activities, a children’s playground, and fun experiences.

When: August 23rd – 27th, 2023

Vi Elsker (one-day music festival)

Aalborg is once again home to one of the world’s biggest 90s parties.

Booyah!

There will be legends from both the 90s and 00s. The plan is to gather 10,000 fans at Dyrskuepladsen in Skalborg.

One of the biggest names will be Jenny from Ace of Base. She will sing all the group’s mega-hits.

DaBomb!

Aalborg will experience legends like BassHunter with his mega-hit “Boten Anna”. In addition, the boys from Boyzlife from Westlife and Boyzone will also return.

Barcode Brothers, Corona (Rhythm of the Night) and Basic Element (Touch you right now) are among the names.

The first 12 names grace the posters already.

Besides six iconic artists, Vi Elsker has already announced Vengaboys, Atomic Kitten, Italobrothers, Cascada, Lou Bega, Safri Duo and Whigfield.

When: August 19th, 2023

The opening of the Plusbus route

The work to plan and prepare Plusbus has been underway for several years.

There is a strong chance we will see Plusbus up and running mid-year.

Aalborg’s Plusbus – also called BRT – is a high-class bus service that will run on a 12 km long stretch.

The route runs from Væddeløbsbanen through the city center to the new Aalborg University Hospital.

Halloween and Christmas at the Zoo

Aalborg Zoo is a great place to visit every Christmas as the lights and decorations create a beautiful scene.

Last Christmas was no exception.

The same was true of the newly launched Halloween theme in the Zoo, which attracted a record number of visitors.

Therefore, Aalborg Zoo announced on New Year’s Day that both events will run again in 2023.

When: October and December 2023

Christmas market in Aalborg City

Although we are still recovering from our Christmas and New Year festivities we can look forward to another round of celebrations in 2023.

In other words, the city center’s cozy Christmas market will return in 2023.

This year the market was a big success with diffenret shops and cabins and a cozy Christmas atmosphere.

When: November and December 2023
