Festival kicks off: Around 75 concerts across Aalborg city centre
Summer in Aalborg has already been packed with great live music – and luckily, the concert season is far from over.
This week, music will once again fill the city centre as Den Blå Festival takes over Aalborg from Wednesday, August 12, to Sunday, August 16.
Five days of jazz, blues, soul and summer atmosphere await.
Around 75 concerts are on the programme – and the best part?
The vast majority are completely free.
Music across the city centre
The festival spreads across Aalborg, meaning you will never be far from a live music experience.
Concerts will take place at venues including Toldbod Plads, Salling Rooftop, Søgaards Bryghus, Quist Wine, The Wharf and many other locations around the city.
Blues and jazz naturally play a major part in the programme, but visitors can also look forward to soul, funk and New Orleans jazz – with several highlights lined up throughout the week.
One of this year’s major international acts is Australian band Bullhorn, who will take to Den Blå Scene at Toldbod Plads on Friday at 7:30 pm.
American artist Delanie Pickering and Chicago blues musician Johnny Burgin are also heading to Aalborg, while Danish favourites including Sahra da Silva, Tim Lothar & Jesper Theis and Vestbyens Bluesband will perform during the festival.
Den Blå Festival runs from **August 12 to 16**, and most concerts remain free thanks to support from sponsors, Aalborg Municipality and the festival’s many volunteers.
Visitors can support the festival by purchasing drinks and refreshments from the festival stalls.
