Free wakeboard and SUP: Aalborg Cable Park celebrate the start of the season

by Ashton Christensen

Although Aalborg was recently covered in snow, we can feel and see Spring and warmer temperatures approaching.

That means it’s time for Aalborg Cable Park’s season to start.

The harbor basin by the Limfjord slowly gasps for air again after a long and cold winter. Therefore, Aalborg Cable Park will once again open its doors and turn on the cables the first weekend in April.

There are free test drives for everyone who shows up on this amazing day. And it’s no April Fool’s joke as they write on Facebook.

The opening is on Saturday, April 1st from 12:00, and you can try both wakeboarding and stand-up paddling (SUP).

Borrow equipment and try the sauna

If you don’t have your own equipment (wetsuit, lifejacket, helmet, and board), you can borrow it for free from the club.

All you need to bring is a towel and bathing clothes.

They also have 20 paddleboards for testing if SUP is more your thing.

Although the calendar says April, the experience might resemble swimming through a giant slush ice machine as you get out of the water. That’s why there is a sauna available all day.

If you have your own wakeboard pull it out of the closet and dust it off as the club invites you to join in. This year they have brand new indoor facilities for a wakeboard hotel.

During the day, they’ll fire up the barbecue and hand out soda for the guests.

Program for the day:

  • 12:00 Club president’s opening speech
  • 12:10-18.00 Wakeboarding, SUP and sauna for everyone
