Get ready: Aalborg Carnival reveals this year’s routes

Now the countdown to Aalborg Carnival has truly begun.
And after the big reveal of this year’s carnival queen, there’s no doubt it’s going to be a huge party once again.
With Tessa as the queen of this year’s carnival, many will surely want to stick close to the queen’s float.
Aalborg Carnival is now ready with this year’s routes—and with them comes a major announcement.
International dancers lead the way
This year, for the first time ever, the parade from the north will begin with an international star parade.
“This means there will be five to seven international groups together with local and Danish samba groups. They will start on the bridge on the Aalborg side,” says Jeanett Kaare, spokesperson for Aalborg Carnival, and adds:
“The whole idea is that people from near and far can come and experience carnival art. It’ll be a very diverse display. There’ll be beauty, extravagance, and a colorful parade.”
The parade will therefore begin with the international dancers led by the samba group Poco Loco, followed by the queen’s float.
Parade starting points
The most important part of the carnival is, of course, the parade—and as always, there are different starting points around the city.
You might already have a favorite spot, or maybe you’re ready to try out a brand new parade route.
Nørresundby
In Nørresundby, the parade begins between the bridges, along the harbor west of the Limfjords Bridge.
Here, the parade kicks off at 10:00, with the traditional cannon fire from Kanonlauget.
This is also where the queen’s float will depart from.
Østerport
The Østerport route starts on Østerbro at Skibsbyggerivej.
The first step will be taken here at 10:30.
Vestbyen
In Vestbyen, the parade starts at Haraldslund on Kastetvej.
This parade begins at 11:00.
