Glide away: Aalborg Municipality is loaning out skates for free to all students

Many of us have seen the beautiful ice rink at C.W. Obels Plads.

Hundreds of people glide around the ice rink every day despite the significant and recent snowfalls.  The snow seems to have lifted the season’s joy.

It usually costs 30 kroner to rent the skates. It may not seem like a lot for many, but every krone counts when you are a student, primarily when dependent on SU.

Aalborg Municipality is feeling the Christmas spirit and is giving a little gift this time of year to all students in the municipality: Free skate rentals for all of December.

No worries, Study Aalborg pays

Study Aalborg is behind the initiative, and the offer applies to all students in Aalborg.

“We’re loaning out skates FOR FREE to all students for all of December – so long as you can show a student card. That means all ages and all students from the very young to higher educations,” they write on Facebook.

The ice rink is open from 10:00 to 07:00 every day. However, the skate rental is open from 15:00-20:00 on weekdays and 11:00-18:00 on weekends.
