Great news: Nordic chain reopens in Aalborg
Aalborg will soon once again have the opportunity to exchange travel money at a proper currency exchange shop in the city center.
The Nordic chain Forex has confirmed that it plans to open a new branch in Friis Shopping Center during 2026.
This marks a notable comeback in the city, which has otherwise been without a physical Forex store since 2021.
Back to Aalborg
For many years, Forex has been a well-known name among travelers in Denmark, and today the chain has several stores across the country.
In Aarhus, there is a branch at Banegårdspladsen near the city’s main transport hub, and in Copenhagen Forex can be found both at the Central Station and near Nørre Voldgade in the city center, serving as established local places for currency exchange.
In addition to these city centers, Forex branches are also located in places such as Kolding and in shopping centers like Lyngby Storcenter, making it easy to exchange currency in both Jutland and Zealand, far from airport terminals.
Today, Forex’s network in Denmark is part of an even larger Nordic footprint, with stores and ATMs strategically placed in city centers, shopping malls, and airports – places where many Danes encounter currency when they are traveling or returning home.
However, for several years North Jutland has been without a physical Forex store, since the last branch on Ved Stranden closed.
For many travelers, this has meant fewer opportunities to handle currency locally.
With the new location in Friis, Aalborg will once again have a permanent door to walk through when travel calls.
