Free concerts, activities, and street food: Here is your guide to Aalborg Regatta

Now it’s finally time again.

From Thursday, August 28th to Sunday, August 31st, Aalborg Harbourfront will be taken over by the city’s maritime festival: Aalborg Regatta.

Here you can visit the 16 participating ships, enjoy some cool (free!) concerts, and sink your teeth into delicious street food.

Thursday, August 28th

Aalborg Regatta kicks off Thursday with plenty of fun activities in and around the Harbourfront.

First and foremost, you can look forward to experiencing 16 beautiful sailing ships from both Denmark and abroad.

But that’s not all.

At 4:00 PM, the large street food area opens, where 22 stalls will be ready with a total of 60 different dishes – from award-winning Indian butter chicken to delicious bao buns, juicy burgers, crispy loaded fries, and sweet temptations like churros and bubble waffles.

The food market not only offers world-class food but also several bars serving craft beer, soft drinks, cocktails, and wine.

On Thursday, you can also meet the Air Home Guard from 4:00 PM, and of course, there will be plenty of completely free music throughout the day.

On the musical side, you can experience a Band Battle winner, Cæcilie Nordby, and Frederikshavn’s own Allan Olsen.

Friday, August 29th

On Friday, Aalborg Regatta offers an extravagant program, including free concerts with Scarlet Pleasure and Patina, who are currently topping the charts.

The street food area opens as early as 11:00 AM, and from 3:00 PM, you can, among other things, sail on the tall ship Maja, visit Open Ship on many of the vessels, and meet Aalborg Zoo, Art By Me, and Springeren, all ready with fun activities.

Children and the young at heart can look forward to visiting the Activity Area, where the Spar Nord Foundation invites you to fun and exciting experiences for the whole family in their large Kids’ Zone.

In Jomfru Ane Park, there are bouncy castles and rides for both big and small children – completely free.

Saturday, August 30th

The event area opens as early as 10:00 AM, and a fantastic program awaits throughout the day.

We can look forward to free concerts with Schæfer, Rikke Thomsen, and Michael Falch.

Saturday also brings street food, a large kids’ area, Open Ship, playland, and much more.

In addition, spectacular experiences await. You can, for example, witness a rescue demonstration on the Limfjord, as a SAR Aalborg rescue helicopter demonstrates an operation on the water.

You can also experience the new Nordic University Sprint Regatta, where six universities compete for the coveted title. Watch from the quay as they race over a 350-meter stretch on the fjord. The first race starts at 10:00 AM, with the final at 6:00 PM.

Sunday, August 31st

The event area opens again at 10:00 AM.

On Sunday, you can once again sail on the tall ship Maja, visit Open Ship on many of the vessels, and meet Aalborg Zoo, Art By Me, and Springeren, all ready with fun activities.

There is also a playland for older children at the Activity Area and a mini playland for the little ones in Jomfru Ane Park.

At 11:00 AM, enjoy the Åh Abe Show with the legendary Mek Pek, who has spent the past 30 years performing Åh Abe concerts, children’s theater, and publishing books. The show features tall tales and songs from the great Danish children’s song repertoire.

Sko/Torp is ready to close Aalborg Regatta with a bang, performing a free concert at 1:00 PM.
