Hard times: Now La Bottega is closing as well

Although we no longer need to wear face masks, stand in long COVID test queues, or risk going into isolation, the hard years of the pandemic still linger.

The aftermath of the pandemic, combined with rising inflation, has been particularly tough on the restaurant industry and has unfortunately had consequences for several of the city’s restaurants recently.

Just a month ago, we reported that La Locanda’s premises on C.W. Obels Plads were put up for rent through EDC Erhverv.

MyAalborg contacted the owner, Carlo Liberati, who explained that the upcoming closure was due to some difficult years.

“The past year has been hard for us, and we can feel that the premises La Locanda is in are difficult to run a restaurant in.

TraPo is more stable and is experiencing growth, so I would rather focus my energy there and on La Bottega. Those are where I see a future,” he told MyAalborg at the time.

But unfortunately, it has taken another sad turn.

Now the sister store La Bottega has also been put up for rent.

Ready for takeover

Carlo Liberati owns La Locanda, La Bottega, and TraPo, all located in a fine Italian triangle at C.W. Obels Plads and Algade.

“The fact is, the last four or five years have been tough on me. I’m getting tired after a time with COVID, inflation, and wars.

I will therefore try to get rid of as much as possible. I need to scale down.

It’s for the best,” Carlo Liberati says now.

Carlo Liberati hopes to find new tenants for both locations who will take over as soon as possible.

MyAalborg asked him if this will also have consequences for TraPo, and unfortunately, he did not rule this out either.

But for now, it concerns La Locanda and La Bottega.

EDC Erhverv writes:

“The premises are ready for takeover and kitchen equipment can be included by agreement.

An inventory list will be prepared at the time of takeover. The right tenant can thus get started quickly,” Carlo says his hope is that someone will come and take over during the summer, but otherwise, we will have to see what happens.

For him, it is at least time to soon say goodbye.
