Expands significantly: Huge heavy metal festival takes over Skovdalen

Earlier this year, the one-day festival Port of Hell transformed Skovdalen into an inferno of sound, fire, and community.

The festival was a resounding success with more than 1,000 attendees, and therefore the organizers are now significantly expanding the framework for the festival.

Port of Hell returns in 2026 with a force that will be felt far beyond Aalborg.

Next year it will be bigger, wilder, darker, longer. In 2026, Port of Hell turns everything up.

The festival will now last two full days, and from September 4 to September 5, Skovdalen will be transformed into a paradise for all heavy metal fans.

This year’s Port of Hell presents an explosive lineup consisting of ten legendary metal giants, international masters of darkness, raw cult names, and new, relentlessly hard-hitting bands that have never before left their mark on Aalborg.

“Audiences can expect shocking energy releases, boundary-pushing stage shows, and musical experiences that will carve themselves into memory like glowing metal,” promise the organizers.

So far, the organizers can reveal names such as Crown The Beast, Vorga, Defecto, Hatesphere, Endarken, Speed Slut.

Here is a presentation of the first announced names:

Vorga

Vorga is a band that explores melodic black metal, often with a cosmic and dark expression.

They have several releases, with Beyond the Palest Star from 2024 being a more recent full-length, and Striving Toward Oblivion having previously marked the band’s sound within the black metal scene.

Vorga’s music is characterized by creating an atmospheric, dark soundscape – a moody journey through aggressive black metal elements with melodic and distinctive textures.

Defecto

Defecto delivers modern metal with an international sound, razor-sharp riffs, and great impact – a band that has already proven it can stand shoulder to shoulder with established names both in Denmark and abroad.

Defecto’s music draws the listener into heaviness, melody, and control that hits both head and heart.

Hatesphere

Hatesphere are the veterans of the lineup. The band from Aarhus has existed since around 2000, has released 10 albums and EPs, toured Europe with metal giants such as The Haunted and Exodus, and played at Wacken Open Air several times.

That means more than 20 years of uncompromising thrash/death metal – experience and aggression united in one massive roar.

Endarken

Endarken is a Danish death/thrash metal band that storms forward with a brutal and technical musical style.

The band was formed around 2017 by seasoned metal musicians with backgrounds in, among others, Hatesphere, The Vision Ablaze, Lamentari, Chaoswave, and other established acts, and the lineup was completed around 2020.

Musically, Endarken combines fast and aggressive riffs with heavy grooves, melodic elements, and deep themes about societal decay, disinformation, and inner darkness.

Their debut album, The Plague of Truth (2021), was produced by the renowned Tue Madsen (known for work with Meshuggah and The Haunted). The album received a strong reception in the metal community.

Speed Slut

Speed Slut guarantees wild energy and speed metal attitude – raw, relentless, and full throttle ahead. The band has been an integral part of the metal underground for many years and was also part of the Port of Hell 2025 lineup as one of the most explosive names.
