The calendar finally says December

That means Christmas coziness in the streets and alleys, and a whole range of lovely Christmas activities in our wonderful city.

We’ve put together an overview of some of the coziest Christmas events in December in this guide. There’s something for all ages.

The events are listed according to when they take place.

If you have other activities that should be added, send us an email at info@migogaalborg.dk or write in the comments on the Facebook post.

And remember – Aalborg’s biggest calendar with everything happening every single day can be found right here

Christmas markets

There are a lot of different Christmas markets being held in and around Aalborg in December, and of course they have to be included in this guide.

Among them is the well-known Christmas Market at Gammeltorv, which is filled with cozy Christmas huts selling everything from festive Christmas sweaters and unique artworks to warm pork-roast burgers, æbleskiver and mulled wine.

And you can round off your visit with a ride on the Ferris wheel, where you can enjoy the beautiful view over the city.

Aalborg Zoo is also beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and ornaments. The zoo has been transformed into a true Christmas paradise, and remember that there is free entry on Christmas Eve between 10 and 13.

We’ve actually made a full guide covering most Christmas markets in North Jutland. So if you want an overview of which markets to visit, you can check it out

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – In Concert

Harry Potter is a true film classic, and many associate the movies with Christmas coziness, choosing to watch them during the holiday season.

If you are one of those people, you now have the perfect opportunity to do exactly that – but with a symphonic twist.

On 4 and 5 December, Musikkens Hus will screen the first Harry Potter film while the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra performs John Williams’ iconic music live throughout the entire movie.

Eight years ago, Musikkens Hus began taking audiences on an unforgettable journey through all eight Harry Potter films in the series – one enchanting concert at a time. And this year, they are doing it all again.

“Under the direction of Timothy Henty, the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra once again brings the magic to life on the big screen. Every single note of John Williams’ unforgettable score is played live as the audience relives Harry’s first adventure – from the magical Quidditch match to the nerve-wracking confrontation with the Dark forces.

Since we secured the rights in 2017 to perform Harry Potter film concerts throughout Scandinavia, it has been a huge hit among both fantasy fans and music lovers. Now it’s once again time at Musikkens Hus, where film enthusiasts and music fans can look forward to an evening filled with magic and nostalgia.”

This is what Musikkens Hus writes about the event.
