A big year ahead: Here’s what’s coming to Aalborg in 2026

20220804_LHO780_3-1200x720-1-1024x614

2026 will be a year in which Aalborg truly comes alive with energy, experiences, and community.

We have gathered some of the events that already point to 2026 becoming a very special year in our wonderful city – and there is every reason to look forward to it.

Read along right here.

The Tall Ships Races

The last time The Tall Ships Races were held in Aalborg was in 2022.

Now the calendar says 2026, and in the years in between we have hosted Aalborg Regatta with great success – though without visits from The Tall Ships Races.

But now it is finally time again.

As tradition dictates, the harbour will be filled with nothing less than the world’s most beautiful and largest sailing ships.

In addition to the impressive vessels, we can look forward to a festival like no other, which usually attracts more than 700,000 visitors.

Aalborg will buzz with a festive atmosphere – filled with fantastic concerts, exciting races, spectacular fireworks, and wonderful summer vibes in our lovely city.

And we are lucky that it lasts for a full five days: from Wednesday 29 July to Sunday 2 August.

And the best part of it all? It is completely free.

Read more right here.

Skovrock

Skovrock 2026 will be one of the major events of the summer in Aalborg.

The artists have already been announced, and many of the tickets have been snapped up. And that is easy to understand with a programme like this.

Skovdalen will welcome the following artists:

Zar Paulo
Guldimund
Gnags
Queen Machine
Tobias Rahim
Counting Crows

Lars Lilholt Band
Kesi
Suspekt
Madsen
Poul Krebs

The concerts will take place between 13 June and 29 August. Tickets cost between DKK 295 and DKK 395.

For DKK 595, you can buy the “Skovrock Package”, which gives access to a total of four concerts with the artists Zar Paulo + Guldimund, GNAGS, Lars Lilholt Band, and Madsen + Poul Krebs.

It is time to start saving quickly, because it will not be easy to choose just one of the concerts.

But hurry. Suddenly it might be too late to get tickets for exactly the concert or concerts you dream of.

Nibe Festival

Nibe Festival is definitely also something to look forward to in 2026.

In addition to being one of Denmark’s most popular and cosy music festivals, it can this year boast a 40th anniversary.

If there is any doubt about just how popular Nibe Festival really is, it can be revealed that the full festival passes for this year’s anniversary festival sold out completely in just 7.5 hours.

Fortunately, it is still possible to get your hands on day tickets, and you can buy them right here.

This year we can look forward to major artists such as D-A-D, Apacha, Annika, Suspekt, Rasmus Seebach, Poul Krebs, and many more. See the full programme here.

The festival takes place in Skalskoven near Nibe from 1–4 July, and there is no doubt that Nibe Festival will be something out of the ordinary in 2026.

Major concert with Thomas Helmig

On Saturday, 22 August, Aalborg will be visited by one of the country’s greatest music legends, Thomas Helmig, who will deliver his biggest headliner show of 2026.

In addition to Thomas Helmig himself, he is bringing special guest Jonah Blacksmith and support act Ella Augusta to the concert.

The concert will take place at Trekanten, also known as the Grøn Koncert area in Nørresundby.

Ticket sales are in full swing, and you can buy yours via dtdconcerts.dk or unitedtickets.dk. A standard ticket costs DKK 655.

Hurry and secure your ticket so you can look forward to singing along to “Stupid Man”, “Malaga”, and all the other massive hits.

Schedule:

  • 16:00: Doors open
  • 18:00: Support – Ella Augusta
  • 19:45: Special Guest – Jonah Blacksmith
  • 22:00: Thomas Helmig

The event is expected to end at approximately 23:45.

Note: All times are approximate and subject to change.

Aalborg Carnival

When we in Aalborg can boast of having Scandinavia’s largest carnival, it naturally deserves a place among the major events we can look forward to in 2026.

This year it will take place on Saturday, 23 May, and the theme is “Without You – No Us.

About the theme, Aalborg Carnival writes:
“Dress up as something you cannot live without, something you love, or something you believe binds us all together.

You can be part of a group costume or come just as you are – because without you, there is no us.”

We can look forward to seeing Aalborg transform into a colourful explosion of music, costumes, and community, as tens of thousands of people from all over Denmark (and even from abroad) take over the streets.

Ticket sales start on 24 February, and the artists we can look forward to partying with will be revealed continuously.

Do you have a guess as to who this year’s Carnival King or Queen will be, and have you already started planning your costume?

Follow Aalborg Carnival on Facebook or on their website, where more details about this year’s carnival will be revealed along the way.

Danish Airshow

After a couple of years’ pause, the Danish Air Show is making a strong comeback in 2026.

It will take place on 13 September from 8:00 to 16:00 at Aalborg Air Base (9430 Vadum).

Here, visitors will have the chance to experience Denmark’s largest airshow and see how the Air Force works to protect Denmark in a changing world.

There will be aerial displays with military and civilian aircraft as well as helicopters, and on the ground there will be exhibitions where you can get up close to the planes.

It’s the perfect outing for the whole family and is sure to be a hit!

Guests are welcome to bring a large packed lunch from home, or enjoy food stalls brought all the way from the forest in Skanderborg – the same vendors you usually find at the Smukfest music festival.

The air program runs from 10:00 to 16:00, while gates and exhibitions open at 8:00, so it’s recommended to arrive early.

So if you’re a true Super Flyer, mark your calendar now.

And the best part: attendance is completely free!

Follow updates on their website or Facebook page, where information about the event will be posted continuously.

Grøn

In 2026, we can of course also look forward to the annual touring concert, Grøn Koncert.

Here, you get the chance to experience a long lineup of well-known Danish artists all on the same day with just one ticket.

All of this happens in the company of good friends and, hopefully, great weather – truly a dream day!

The exact date for Grøn in Aalborg, as well as which artists will perform, has not yet been announced.

But it’s usually Denmark’s biggest stars who visit Grøn.

Last year, the lineup included Suspekt, Medina, Benjamin Hav, and Alphabeat – a tough act to beat.

The program was announced and tickets went on sale at the beginning of April last year, so it’s likely to be around the same time this year.

Follow updates on their Facebook page or website to see if your favorite artist will be performing at Grøn this year!

New major festival at Nordkraft

Denmark’s new folk and country festival will take place on May 8–9, 2026, throughout Nordkraft, organized by Skråen.

Aalborg is getting a new festival. Skråen is ready to unveil a collaboration with a wide range of institutions in Nordkraft, coming together for a very ambitious joint project: Shelter From The Storm, Aalborg’s new folk and country festival.

The festival aims to become a landmark on the Danish festival scene and is set to be one of the largest indoor folk and country festivals in Denmark from its very first year.

Big names at Musikkens Hus, AKKC, and Skråen

In 2026, Aalborg will also host big names on stage—from musicians and YouTubers to podcasters and comedians.

Many events are already sold out, but fortunately, there are still plenty of exciting shows to catch at Skråen, Musikkens Hus, and AKKC in 2026.

Here’s an overview of some of the major names you can still see—if you act fast! Events are listed by date:
