Hit the cat in the barrel: Join Fastelavns’ festivities in Friis

Fastelavn is my name, buns are what I want, and if there is none, then tricks you will get… (This rhymes and chimes better in Danish, but the meaning is the same!)

Winter break is approaching quickly, which means planning activities for the family. Some of these may be traditional such as enjoying the classic Fastelaven buns, and Friis Shoppingcenter is moving forward with their tradition. The whole week is complete with family fun and activities.  

The coming week is full of creative activities, such as making   Fastelavn masks and painting barrels. On Sunday, February 27th, Aalborg City Association, in cooperation with Friis Shoppingcenter and Fætter BR, will throw a Fastelavn party in Friis.

Fastelavn Party with Whacking the Barrel

On Centertorvet, from February 21st to the 25th from 14:00 to 16:00, there will be a stand where you can create amazing, funny and crazy Festelavns’ masks.

Now you can let out your inner Picasso and perhaps also decorate Festelaven barrels. These barrels will debut at the big Festelaven part on February 27th.  

The biggest Festelavn party held at Friis Shoppingcenter will be on Sunday in cooperation with Aalborg City Association and Fætter BR. The organization committee promises to throw a blast that you will not forget. 

The program for the day is: 

• 10:00-12:00 – Facepainting with Fætter BR
• 11:00 – Whack the barrel for the small 0-4 years
• 12:00 – Whack the barrel for 5-8 years and 9+ years

It will be possible to say hello and take pictures with  Fætter from Fætter BR throughout the party. In each age group, there will be, of course, the best dressed-up or costume awards and prizes for the Cat-Queen and King to take home as well. A very traditional Danish title. Who will it be this year?

Naturally, candy bags will be available for all kids participating in the party.
