374 square metres of second-hand: Huge new store opens in Aalborg

Foer-indvielse-9-1024x683-llimage-sc956x536

Are you the type of person who loves hunting for things that other people have got rid of?

Then there is good reason to stop by Aalborg East today.

On Friday, 18 September, Nordværk, in collaboration with Aalborg Municipality, is opening the doors to a brand-new and large second-hand shop at Lundeborgvej 21.

And there will be plenty of space for the hunt.

The new shop is a massive 374 square metres, and the shelves will be filled with items that have been handed in at the municipality’s recycling centres.

Everything from furniture and clothes to books, toys, porcelain and other usable items will have the chance to find a new home.

One of the aims is to increase direct reuse and make sure that more items are given a new life instead of ending up as waste.

The first 50 get a bonus

A little extra effort is being made for today’s opening.

At 10:00, the shop will officially be inaugurated with an opening speech, and shortly afterwards, rum balls and alcohol-free sparkling drinks will be served.

And it could be worth being among the first through the door.

The first 50 visitors will receive a DKK 50 gift card for the shop.

From 10:30 until 15:00, there will also be competitions with the chance to win prizes.

The shop will remain open until 17:30 on the opening day.

Second-hand treasures from the municipality’s recycling centres

The items in the shop come from Aalborg Municipality’s recycling centres, where large quantities of things that can still be used are handed in every day.

Nordværk has previously said that the ambition is also to create a place where Aalborg residents can meet and find inspiration to reuse more in their everyday lives.

“With the new second-hand shop, we want to make it even easier for residents to think sustainably in their everyday lives. Not only by giving reusable items from the recycling centres a new life, but also by creating a meeting place where people can come together and find inspiration,” Julie Ebak, Head of Nordværk’s Recycling Division, previously said.

The selection will include clothes, furniture, paintings, books, toys, children’s equipment, sports equipment, as well as household items such as ceramics, porcelain, tableware and decorative items.

However, to begin with, the shop will not sell bicycles, building materials or items for the house and garden.

How to get there

The new second-hand shop is located at Lundeborgvej 21 in Aalborg East.

If you are travelling by public transport, bus 11 from central Aalborg stops at Troensevej close to the shop. There are also several other bus connections to Aalborg East.

If you are arriving by car or bicycle, parking is available at the second-hand shop.

Today’s programme

10:00: Official opening of the shop with an opening speech.

10:15: Rum balls and alcohol-free sparkling drinks.

10:30–15:00: Competitions with the chance to win prizes.

After the opening day, the shop will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:00 to 17:30, as well as Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00.

So, if you have a weakness for second-hand treasures, from today there are 374 new square metres to explore in Aalborg.
