5 years of Turkish food on Boulevarden: Istanbul Kebab celebrates a milestone

Next week – from Monday, November 10 to Sunday, November 16 – it’s celebration time at Istanbul Kebab on Boulevarden in Aalborg.

The popular restaurant is turning five years old, and that calls for an entire week dedicated to its customers.

“We’ve been here for five years now, and we’re very grateful for our customers’ support,” says Abdulbaki Basak, who runs the place together with his father.

“That’s why we want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years – both those who’ve been with us from the start and all the new guests who continue to find their way here.”

To mark the occasion, Istanbul Kebab is launching a series of special offers on its most popular dishes.

Popular dishes for only 99 DKK

Seven of the restaurant’s most beloved menu items have been selected for the anniversary offer – and there’s something for every taste.

Guests can choose between kebab, veal, chicken, and lamb, all for just 99 DKK.

Each dish is served with fresh bread and three kinds of dips: ezme, tzatziki, and hummus.
The offer runs throughout the anniversary week, from November 10 to November 16.

Meat from local butchers

Even though the name might make some think “durum,” Istanbul Kebab is much more than that.

The restaurant follows a clear Turkish concept, focusing on grilled dishes and classic specialties from Turkish cuisine – a selection that feels just like being on holiday in Turkey.

“Our focus is on authentic Turkish dishes – we make everything from grilled skewers to our popular kebab meals. Many associate us with our grilled food, which has become a big hit,” says Abdulbaki Basak.

The wide-ranging menu is one of the reasons the restaurant has earned a solid place on Aalborg’s dining scene, despite the tough competition.

“We have something for everyone – both children and adults – and we care a lot about quality ingredients.

We buy all our meat from local butchers in Aalborg, and our spices are specially selected from a supplier in Aarhus.”

A Turkish family business – only in Aalborg

Istanbul Kebab is a family-run business, where both father and son are deeply involved in daily operations.

Three years ago, they sold their restaurant in Hjallerup to focus entirely on the Aalborg location – a decision that’s clearly paid off.

“By now, a lot of people know us, and we believe we’ll still be here in another five years.

We stick to what we do best but always try to adapt. What matters most to us is that our customers are happy,” Abdulbaki Basak concludes.

The celebration takes place from Monday, November 10 to Sunday, November 16.
