Get your hands on a piece of Aalborg history: Legendary hot dog stand put up for sale

A true Aalborg classic can now get a new owner.

The legendary hot dog stand on Boulevarden – today known as Nings 2 go, but for many also remembered as Tages Pølsevogn or Mad Boxen – has just been put up for sale.

The stand is centrally located on Boulevarden, close to City Hall, and for decades it has been a regular stop for both hungry Aalborg residents and tourists.

With its location right in the heart of the city, the cart has achieved almost iconic status.

According to the sales listing, it is a fully functional hot dog/food cart with an extraction system, making it suitable for both grilling and frying.

A municipal vending permit is included, making it relatively inexpensive to operate compared to many other takeaway options in the city center.

The seller emphasizes that only serious inquiries will be answered.

A part of Danish cultural history

Danish hot dog stands are not just “fast food” – they are cultural history. The first hot dog carts rolled out onto the streets of Copenhagen in January 1921, and ever since, they have been a gathering place for Danes across age, background, and social status.

At the height of their popularity in the 1960s and 70s, there were around 700 hot dog stands in Denmark. Today, that number has dropped significantly, and only about 100 remain nationwide – with just a handful in Aalborg.

As recently as November 2025, another well-known sausage spot in the city center, Bredegade Pølsehus, closed after many decades.

But the hot dog stand on Boulevarden can still be saved.

Last sold in 2022

The cart was last sold in 2022, when it changed hands after many years as Tages Pølsevogn and later Mad Boxen. But regardless of the name, the place has long been synonymous for many Aalborg residents with good sausages, sandwiches, and that unmistakable hot dog stand atmosphere.

Now the cart is back on the market – and for the right buyer, there is the opportunity to take over not just a business, but a piece of living Aalborg history.

If you dream of taking over a genuine piece of Aalborg heritage and standing behind the glass window serving hot dogs in the middle of the city – then this is your chance.
