Traffic could almost double: Major changes planned for two Aalborg roads

Vestbyen2026-llimage-sc1912x1072-1024x574

What should Mølholmsvej and Annebergvej look like in the future?

Residents of Aalborg will soon have the opportunity to share their ideas.

On Monday, 5 October, Aalborg Municipality is inviting residents to a public meeting about the future design of the two roads.

The meeting is connected to work on the third Limfjord crossing, which will lead to changes to the road network in the western part of Aalborg.

Residents will have the opportunity to hear more about the plans and provide their own input on how the roads should be redesigned.

Significantly more traffic expected

When the third Limfjord crossing opens, Mølholmsvej and Annebergvej will take on a new role as a main access route to western Aalborg.

And the difference is expected to be noticeable in terms of traffic.

Between Svalegårdsvej and Skydebanevej, Aalborg Municipality expects traffic to increase from around 5,900 to 9,700 vehicles per day.

On the section between Skydebanevej and Vestre Fjordvej, traffic is expected to increase from approximately 4,200 to 8,200 vehicles per day.

As a result, a preliminary proposal is currently being developed for how Mølholmsvej and Annebergvej could be transformed into a modern main access road.

The proposal includes better conditions for cyclists and pedestrians, more greenery and safer opportunities to cross the road.

At the same time, roadside parking could be reduced, while changes and closures have been proposed for some side roads, partly to discourage drivers from using them as shortcuts.

However, no final decision has yet been made on how the roads will be redesigned.

Have your say

The evening begins at 19:00 with a welcome from Councillor for Technical and Environmental Affairs Peter Lindholt (DD).

Afterwards, city architect Jens Rex will present the plans for the future design of Mølholmsvej and Annebergvej.

A large part of the evening, however, will be dedicated to residents.

From 19:30, there will be an opportunity to discuss the project and provide input at various themed stations.

One part of the project, however, is not up for discussion.

The framework for the interchange and its connection to Mølholmsvej has already been decided, so the public meeting will focus on the remaining design of the road.

The public meeting will take place on Monday, 5 October, from 19:00 to 21:00 in the assembly hall at Hasseris Gymnasium, Hasserisvej 300.

The doors will open at 18:30.

Anyone wishing to attend should be aware that the registration deadline is Wednesday, 30 September at 12:00.

You do not have to attend the public meeting to provide input on the project.

It is also possible to submit comments digitally to Aalborg Municipality until Monday, 19 October.

You can read more about the project, the public meeting and how to provide input on Aalborg Municipality’s website.
