Will last for a month: Major roadwork on busy street in Aalborg begins Monday

When the autumn break ends and many return to work, commuters may face an unpleasant surprise during rush hour.
Starting Monday, October 20, Aalborg Municipality will begin major roadwork on Østre Allé Bridge over the railway – right in the heart of Aalborg.
The work, which will continue until November 28, means that throughout the period, there will only be one open lane in each direction between Postmestervej and Dag Hammarskjölds Gade.
The municipality will be renovating the bridge joints, and although traffic will not be completely closed, drivers are warned that delays and congestion may occur, especially during rush hours.
Find alternative routes
“We recommend that motorists find alternative routes during the period.
There will always be one open lane in each direction, but reduced speed and the risk of queues should be expected,” Aalborg Municipality states in an information notice.
Cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to pass but may have to follow temporary detours when work is being done on the paths.
Buses will operate as usual, and access to the Kennedy Arkaden parking garage will remain open, although the barriers will shift as the work progresses.
The project is expected to be completed by November 28, allowing traffic to return to normal before the Christmas season begins.
