Medist’ Navidad and Jingle Duck: Get the wildest Christmas burgers

by Ashton Christensen

What is Christmas really without fantastic Christmas food?

Buuuut sometimes curried herring, fish fillets, hot liver pate, and browned potatoes can be a little too much.

Fortunately, we have plenty of restaurants and cafés in the city that offer Christmas dishes that differ from traditional Danish Christmas dishes.

A place that always guarantees a fun, different, and tasty take on the Christmas menu is the popular Wildebeest Gastropub, located on Østerbro 12 near Nordkraft.

Four Christmas sliders on the menu

They have replaced their regular menu with this year’s Christmas menu, with room for four new Christmas sliders.

“We usually only have two Christmas sliders, but this year we decided to give it all we’ve got,” Heimir Gudbergsson, who owns WIldebeest with his family, says.

Christmas inspires all the sliders – and of course, they’ve got that familiar Wildebeest twist, so there’s plenty of candy, fun combinations, and plenty of fuel in the flavor.

Christmas is all about tradition, and there’s still room for the two familiar sliders, one with duck and one with pork.

Christmas Plum is with pulled pork marinated in Christmas spices, spiced plum chutney, pork rinds & pickles, while Jingle Duck is with confit duck, rosemary cream, red cabbage, mayo & Jerusalem artichoke crisps.

In addition to this year’s surprises, you can sink your teeth into the Merry Veggie, which features a kidney bean & quinoa steak, fresh kale, pickled apples, Christmas spiced apple compote, watercress & BBQ.

The most ingenious name of the year goes to the last slider on the menu: Medist Navidad, which comes with grilled pork sausage, mustard mayo, Christmas-spiced tomato cream, salad, pickled red onions & watercress.

Get going – NOW!

If you haven’t yet visited Wildebeest Gastropub, you’ve missed out on one of the city’s coziest eateries, which has mastered the art of burgers, delicious sides, and, not least, fantastic beer.

The new Christmas sliders certainly don’t disappoint. There is a perfect balance between the “Christmasy” elements, which are often very fatty and heavy in taste, and the sour, fresh, and spicy elements that help to give the perfect mouthful.

Of course, a proper Christmas needs sweets, and here you can sink your teeth into their version of a Christmas dessert, which is with vanilla ice cream, white chocolate ganache, lemon cream, fresh tarragon, and cinnamon-salted almonds.
