More Christmas news: Guf & Kugler reopens in Slotsgade
There was joy, happiness, and Christmas spirit at Guf & Kugler in Slotsgade when they invited the people of Aalborg into their special Christmas room in both 2018 and 2019.
Due to COVID-19, Christmas was canceled in 2020, and since then, Guf & Kugler has been closed for the winter – until this year.
Last Friday, they reopened on Slotsgade with the future ice cream king Jeppe Korsholm and his girlfriend Nikoline at the helm.
Several new Christmas ice creams
Speaking to MyAalborg, Jeppe reveals what the residents of Aalborg can start looking forward to it.
Despite the cold weather, there will be plenty to warm up to when he, along with the ice cream family, welcomes visitors every weekend until Christmas.
“We’ve been busy in Santa’s workshop,” he says with a grin, referring to the preparations made over the last couple of months.
“We’ve sorted out the Christmas ice cream varieties we’ll offer. In addition to the well-known Cherry Christmas, there’s also ice cream with roasted almonds in the freezer – and our delicious marzipan ice cream has received a completely new and pink color that exudes marzipan,” Jeppe reveals.
Adult ice creams to warm up to
Even though Jeppe leads this year’s Christmas season, his mother, the previous owner, has also had a hand in it. Her seasonal ice cream is one you can “warm up to” – which might require a bit of explanation.
“It will be a panna cotta ice cream with romtopf, which has received a delightful rum with sour, dark berries,” Jeppe says, emphasizing that it will be an “adult ice cream.”
In the same category, there are also frozen drinks with the new variant featuring blood orange, which is expected to be a bestseller.
In the ice cream display, there’s also a gingerbread ice cream with “all sorts of lovely Christmas notes” and a hint of cinnamon – because that’s a must, according to Jeppe.
Lots of Christmas decorations
In the Christmas shop, there’s, of course, an abundance of Christmas decorations in every corner, and for those who can’t get enough, it can also be purchased to take home.
“We have our favorite Christmas decorations again from Sif & Gry, which are fairtrade and Danish design. Additionally, we have our really nice mouth-blown balls in recycled glass from Vondels, which we also had back in 2018,” Jeppe says.
Although Jeppe officially takes over Guf & Kugler on January 1st, he is the one setting the tone for the entire December.
“It’s a collaboration between me and mom, but it will be me and Nikoline (Jeppe’s girlfriend, ed.) that you can meet in Slotsgade.
We’re really looking forward to putting faces to both new and old customers before we take over completely in the new year,” he says expectantly.
So, there are plenty of good reasons to drop by in Slotsgade.
The opening hours will be Friday 15:00-19:00, Saturday 13:00-20:00, and Sunday 13:00-17:00.
