More Street Art: International artists paint a new mural in Aalborg

by Shellie Boudreau

Aalborg is renowned for its many street art paintings, which we cherish.

The creation of new paintings is in constant motion by artists locally and globally. Now you can check out some of the latest.

This time the Dutch artists Telmo Pieper & Miel Krutzmann are in the spotlight.

Their mural is located at Klostermarkskolen’s (the Klostermark School) new building extension and complements the recently developed play area.

The mural can easily be spotted from Annebergvej – opposite Vor Frelsers Kirke (Our Saviours Church).

This is not the first wall painting in the Aalborg area by TELMO MIEL.

On Hjulmagervej, a massive work of art inspires us to question our ever impending impatience. The work rivals the demands for moving faster against the idea that not rushing can lead to something better.

Street art stronghold

The wall paintings are a part of the Out in the Open project, launched by KIRK Gallery in 2014.

Since then a series of street art paintings by high-profile international and national artists have come to life.

A goal of the project is to share high-quality art with as many people as possible in an accessible way.

Getting the art “out in the open” allows many to experience how it feels to live with fantastic artwork in their everyday lives. All have the opportunity to experience the emotion intended by the artist and the pleasure that it can bring.

There are over 70 mural paintings in Aalborg. Thus, Aalborg is recognized for having one of the most outstanding galleries of street art in Denmark.
