Big plans: Major stores move into new shopping area in Aalborg

There has long been talk about the future of the Bouet area north of Nørresundby, and now the pieces are finally starting to fall into place.
A new, ambitious shopping area is very close to becoming a reality, and the plan is for construction to begin already this fall.
11 out of 12 stores have already been confirmed for the new project, and well-known names are ready to move in.
This is confirmed by Peter Søgaard, CEO of Innovater, to MigogAalborg.
Innovater is the company developing the area.
Kvickly to open in a smaller version
Kvickly, Maxi Zoo, and Jysk will remain at the location but will be joined by a wide range of strong retail chains.
Kvickly will open a smaller and more modern store in a new building. This will make room for new players, including Normal, Elgiganten, Sport 24, Thansen, and Ilva, some of which will move into the current Kvickly and Jysk buildings.
The second-hand chain Kirppu and Big Dollar will also be part of the area.
Additionally, a brand-new Burger King will open in its own separate building.
New construction and renovation in two phases
The plan is that the stores moving into new buildings — including Kvickly, Jysk, Maxi Zoo, Kirppu, Normal, and Burger King — can look forward to opening their doors in October 2026.
After that, the existing buildings on the site will undergo a full renovation, allowing the remaining chains to move into modernized premises during 2027.
One store still missing
There is still one vacant space in the upcoming shopping area. According to Peter Søgaard, negotiations are ongoing, and no contract has yet been signed with the final tenant.
At the same time, the project is awaiting two decisions from the Planning Appeals Board, which could potentially delay the groundbreaking.
MigogAalborg is closely following the project and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
