Among Aalborg’s best restaurants: Nam moves to a new location next year

After nearly a decade on Vesterbro in Aalborg, Restaurant Nam is heading into an exciting new chapter.

In 2026, the restaurant will move into brand-new premises at Østre Havnepark.

A building designed by award-winning Norwegian architect Reiulf Ramstad.

It’s not a decision made overnight.

Since opening in 2016, Nam has been a permanent fixture on the city’s dining scene, known for combining an unpretentious sense of hospitality with high-level culinary experiences.

Most recently, Nam was among the finalists at the AALBORG AWARDS 2025.

Saying goodbye to Vesterbro

Since opening, Restaurant Nam has been based on Vesterbro, where many have followed them over the years.

That’s why the decision to leave the well-known address hasn’t been an easy one.

“We have truly enjoyed our years on Vesterbro, where we’ve grown together with our guests and staff since 2016.

But when we were offered the chance to move into the new setting at Østre Havnepark, we felt the time was right for change.

It’s a big step, but also an opportunity to create something truly special for both ourselves and Aalborg,” says owner Anne Menendez.

The move marks both an ending and a beginning.

The new building, with its architecture and location, will be an attraction in itself, adding another layer to the harbor district’s development.

It will also be significantly larger than the current space, with room for many more guests and, not least, a huge outdoor terrace.

Uniquely, the restaurant will occupy a building entirely of its own, without residential units or other functions attached.

Keeping the same DNA

For Restaurant Nam, this means welcoming guests with views of the Limfjord and an environment that sets the stage for an even stronger overall experience.

“Of course, we’ll bring our DNA with us.

It’s the same spirit, the same approach to food and hospitality, but we will also adjust and evolve the concept to match the new surroundings and the needs of our guests,” says Kim Nam Jeppesen.

The timing couldn’t be better.

When the doors open in 2026, it will also mark the restaurant’s 10-year anniversary in Aalborg. The move will therefore not only represent a new chapter, but also a celebration of everything achieved so far.

“We are incredibly excited to invite the people of Aalborg and all our guests from outside into our new home.

It feels like the right step on our journey, and we can hardly wait to begin the next 10 years.”

Restaurant Nam will officially move to Østre Havnepark in spring 2026.
