New date set: Ice rink ready to open this Friday

This September we could reveal that the ice rink at C.W. Obels Plads will open again as usual. This news is especially welcome after the ice rink was canceled last year due to Corona.

Originally the impression was that the first Friday in December (December 3rd) would be the opening date.

However, there was some miscommunication between the local municipality and the organizers of the skating rink. The good news is that the outdoor skating rink is soon to open.

The outdoor skating rink opens on Friday, November 26.

So find your skates and get them ready. Soon you will be able to glide across the ice while enjoying fresh winter air. Indeed, passing spectators can enjoy watching the fun on the ice rink as they shop for their Christmas gifts or while enjoying hot cocoa from the nearby cafes.  

“We always aim to open on the first Sunday in Advent, and this year it is November 26.

Everything is moving forward according to our plan. So we do not expect any delays,” Knud Erik Rasmussen, who is operations manager at Gigantium and responsible for the ice rink at C.W. Obels Plads, says. 

A beautiful December in Aalborg

The Christmas cheer is set to max, and there is a lot of ‘hygge’ or coziness to enjoy in Aalborg.  You could, for example, start with the outdoor ice rink and then visit the Christmas market on Gammeltorv and Nytorv.
