New events launched: Aalborg hotel adds cocktails, bingo and tastings

Pier 5 Hotel on Aalborg’s waterfront has long been an obvious place to check in if you wanted views of the Limfjord.

Now, the hotel also aims to be a destination—even for those heading home after.

On the ground floor, activity levels have been significantly increased, and the ambition is clear:

VAERFT Cocktail Bar and social dining are set to become a gathering point for locals looking for more than just a quick glass of wine.

Carnival, paella and bingo

In the lead-up to Aalborg Carnival, the bar will truly come alive.

On Thursday, 21 May 2026, Pier 5 invites guests to a carnival bingo night, where classic bingo is paired with paella, Caipirinhas, and samba rhythms.

Guests will enjoy paella during one of two seatings at 18:00 or 19:00, before two rounds of bingo are played from 20:00 to 21:30.

The price is DKK 325, including food, a drink, and the game.

The event can also be booked as a corporate arrangement, and with limited seats available, this is not the kind of bingo night you can just drop into at the last minute.

Throughout the rest of the year, cocktail bingo is a key attraction.

The atmosphere is less carnival-focused but still lively.

For DKK 150, guests receive the cocktail of the day and two bingo games with three cards.

The event typically runs from 20:00 to 21:30, and with only 30 participants, it feels more like an intimate evening at the bar than a large-scale event.

Prizes range from breakfast buffet vouchers to tickets for future cocktail nights—so you might not leave empty-handed.

From wine in the glass to gin in the pipette

For those looking for a more relaxed and flavour-focused experience, Pier 5 also offers smaller tasting formats.

At “Wine & Bingo,” the concept is similar to cocktail bingo, but at a slightly slower pace.

Guests receive two glasses of wine, with a choice between two white wines and two reds, while playing the same two rounds of bingo.

The event runs from 20:00 to 21:30 and is limited to 30 guests.

The more specialised experiences take place in even smaller groups.

At the Gin Laboratory, created in collaboration with Skotlander Spirits, there are only 12 seats available.

For DKK 299, participants are guided through four different gins, learning about botanicals, distillation, and flavour profiles in an accessible way.

The tasting runs from 19:00 to 21:00 and can also be booked as a private corporate event.

Skotlander also hosts two rum tastings, each aimed at different preferences.

“Sweetness on Deck” is designed for those who enjoy smooth and sweeter rum styles, ideal for beginners.

“Boozy on Deck,” on the other hand, is for those who appreciate stronger, more robust flavours.

In both formats, guests sample four rums and receive an introduction to taste, origin, and barrel ageing, along with tips on how to build their own rum collection.

Each tasting costs DKK 299, runs from 19:00 to 21:00, and is limited to 12 participants.

Social dining with Sola Sociale

While the bar brings people together over drinks and bingo, Pier 5 has also introduced a social dining concept.

Behind it is Kamilla Kristensen, originally from Læsø and known from VesterØL and SOLA on the island.

With experience from several top Nordic restaurants and training as a chef, waiter, and sommelier, her concept at Pier 5 focuses on long tables and an informal atmosphere.

The social dining experience includes welcome bubbles, three snacks, and four courses for DKK 595.

The menu changes monthly and is based on seasonal ingredients, without strict culinary rules.

Guests can add a cocktail and wine pairing for DKK 395 for an extra layer to the evening.

Menus have featured dishes such as langoustine toast, ceviche with spring vegetables, lamb, and crispy fish, depending on the season.

On selected dates in April and May, guest chefs will join the concept, including Danish champion in open-fire cooking, Bjarke B. Graversen.

Later in the spring, the focus will shift more fully to the Sola Sociale concept, where the idea is to meet new people, share tables, and let the evening unfold over four courses.
