Flea market on the lawn: New event aims to bring neighbours together
On Saturday, June 6, flea market lovers will have the perfect opportunity to discover new treasures when residents of Stjernehuset 13H invite people to the brand-new flea market “Lopper på plænen” at Østre Havn.
The flea market will take place on the lawn in front of Stjernehuset by the old industrial crane from 10 AM to 3 PM.
The event is organized by the activity committee of Stjernehuset 13H.
“We are 78 apartments at Stjernepladsen in Stjernehuset 13H, and we have established an activity committee where we try to create activities for the residents,” explains Kate Taftenberg Mortensen, who is part of the committee.
“Now we want to try hosting a flea market for the first time in an attempt to engage some of the younger residents.”
The purpose of the day is not only to sell secondhand finds and flea market treasures.
The event is also about creating more life and community around the Stjernepladsen area.
“It is intended to create a cozy atmosphere for the residents and bring some life to the lawn by Stjernehuset while making people aware of this wonderful area,” says Kate.
Residents in the building have been given the opportunity to set up their own stalls, while the activity committee is preparing the area for the event.
So far, the organizers are hoping for around seven stalls, but there is room for more if interest grows.
“This is the first time we are trying to host it, so we are very excited to see how much support there will be.
If it becomes a success, it is definitely something we will do again, and there is also room for it to grow even bigger,” Kate explains.
It will be a major flea market day for visitors, as the date was not chosen by coincidence.
The same day also features the event “Lopper på Havnen,” giving guests the opportunity to combine the two experiences.
“We chose to hold the event on the same day as Lopper på Havnen, so people can continue down to us once they are finished there.”
So if you love secondhand shopping, good bargains, and a cozy atmosphere by the waterfront, you can stop by the lawn at Stjernepladsen on June 6 from 10 AM to 3 PM.
