New kind of election poster: The mayor of Aalborg reveals new mural

Aalborg’s renowned street art scene has gained another striking addition.

The Social Democrats in Aalborg have commissioned a new mural that not only serves as an election poster but also as a tribute to the art that gives the city its edge and character.

They state this in a press release from Aalborg’s mayor Lasse Frimand Jensen.

The artist behind the piece is Claus Frederiksen—also known as Burnon—who creates artwork that connects the city through his motifs.

Special meaning for Aalborg’s mayor

The new mural highlights two strong symbols of Aalborg’s shared identity: Aalborg Tower and the Bull on Vesterbro.

The artwork is located at Østre Allé 89 at DUI Leg og Virke, an organization that holds special significance for Aalborg’s mayor, Lasse Frimand Jensen.

DUI Leg og Virke has been a part of my life since I was born, which makes it extra special for me to see this artwork here.

Street art helps tell Aalborg’s story and makes our city even more vibrant,”** says Lasse Frimand Jensen.

The mural will be part of the Social Democrats’ visual campaign leading up to the municipal election in 2025 and will be taken down after election day on November 18.
