Giant mural unveiled: New landmark in Aalborg

Aalborg is already known for its many impressive murals, and now the city has been given another one.

The striking new mural by Australian artist ADNATE is now complete on Østre Havnegade, marking the beginning of the thirteenth year of the mural project “Out in the Open” by KIRK Gallery.

Four days of intensive work

In Aalborg, the artist has worked intensively over the past week, and it took four days to complete the mural. This is also the first time he has created a large-scale mural in Denmark.

Speaking about the work, he says:

“On my many travels, I have tried to tell the stories of Indigenous peoples and communities around the world, and I have discovered that each culture carries its own understanding of identity.

With the mural in Aalborg, that journey continues. Is she hiding behind the mask, or revealing herself?

The answer is left to the viewer.

Inspired by Danish traditions, the work reflects the power of storytelling and the many faces we wear throughout life. Ultimately, the mural is an invitation to see a part of your own story within it.”

One of the world’s leading artists

ADNATE has for many years been considered one of the world’s leading artists in hyper-realistic mural painting. Among other achievements, there is even a hotel named after him in Perth, Australia, featuring a massive 25-storey mural.

As recognition of his artistic career, Adnate was selected to have a hotel dedicated to his work.

“The Adnate” hotel is now a major landmark in the city and a celebration of his art and its message.

He has created numerous murals across Asia, Europe, the United States, and Australia, and is known for his enormous portraits that aim to capture the essence of humanity and convey the depth and beauty of the human spirit.
