New name revealed: Iconic Aalborg café unveils new concept

After several months of silence and drawn curtains, there is finally news about what will happen in the well-known premises at Klostertorvet.

The owners behind the former Café KlosterTorvet have revealed both their new identity and the name that will soon appear on the façade via social media – marking a clear farewell to the classic café that had been located at the address since 1986.

Welcome to: Wunderbar.

In a video post, they explain that they have “worked hard, rebuilt, and thought big” behind closed doors.

Here is the new concept

Café KlosterTorvet, as people in Aalborg knew it, no longer exists.

Instead, Wunderbar is opening, described as Aalborg’s new “All Day Kitchen & Social Spot.”

This signals a significantly broader concept than before:

A meeting place for brunch, coffee dates, dinners, cocktails, and long evenings in good company.

In other words, a place designed to be lively from morning until late at night, where both the kitchen and the bar play central roles.

Opening date still a secret

Back in December, MigogAalborg reported that Café KlosterTorvet would close from December 30, and that the owners had big plans for a relaunch with a new name, new interior, and a new kitchen.

In the courtyard, an extension has been built, including a brand-new kitchen that will elevate the quality of the food in the upcoming venture.

The farewell to Café KlosterTorvet was followed by a heartfelt thank you to regular guests, friends of the café, and the many employees who over the years helped create the atmosphere in the popular spot.

At the same time, a promise was made that the journey would continue in a new form – and that is the journey now taking shape on social media.

The exact opening date has not yet been announced, but the owners say it is “coming soon” and encourage guests to follow along online, where glimpses of the renovation and the new concept are being shared.
